Hey Guys;

Well, I took a minute to stop by my duck spot... Had a nice little flock of 'em hanging around... Nice to see they still want to be in the area AND... it makes me wonder "how many" of them will end up in the freezer...

He he he, I wonder how many of them are banded ducks... It'd be nice to add to the necklace...

You know, I've shot my fair amount of ducks, and never once got a band...

Any trick to finding banded ones?

He he he, it's "one" of many Ryan, and yes, there is a spot in the boat for ya. We'll have to go have a look at a couple and decide which one to "hit"... I have yet to check my beaver ponds yet, at the beginning of the summer I put over 2 dozen ducks out of one of them...

P.S. The trick for me is that a DU office AND the DNR office are located in F'ton... I assume they band local ducks and I've yet to go a season and NOT get at least one... (since moving to F'ton)

Scott r... Not usually... BUT, Ducks Unlimited has banded a limited # of ducks with a regular band AND a green band... The green band is worth $100 US, IIRC...

Reporting of the band helps DU manage the waterfowl...

No trick to bands...well maybe hunting in an area where blackducks usually hang out...i've got 2 green bands now (1st one in 2002 and 2nd one this year...both ironically on the 3rd day of the season) and they were both on black ducks. i heard they tag quite a few mallards as well.
