Okay, so I acquired a Colt 6920. Love it. So then I figured, "hey, Id like to build my own". So here's what I have and I was just looking for some input on a couple parts.

VLTOR MUR upper receiver
Geiselle SD3G trigger group
KNS pins
Magpul MIAD grip
Magpul AFG2 (still kind of torn on this vs a hand stop)
NEA CCS stock / BCG
BCM (gunfighter mod 4) charging handle
Griffin Armament M4SD 2 flash comp

Think I have some other crap but thats the basics.

So here is what Ive been thinking....

KAC URX 3 8" grip (wtb 9")
NEA 10.5" barrel
HERA Arms lower receiver

Then some of the usual other crap.

Any known conflicts with things not fitting with each other with those parts? Anyone know the best sources to find the Hera lower receiver?

Additionally, even though I already have the griffin flash comp on order, given that I'm planning on a 10.5" barrel should I be thinking about going with more of a linear comp or forward directing muzzle device?

You have alot of"quality"parts to begin your build! If it were mu build I would cut out the NEA stuff and replace with BCM full auto Bolt, and re place the NEA barrel with a Noveske, or LW-50 (Lothar Walther) barrel from dlask. And minus out the afg magpul and use hand skiff since it s a short barrel setup.
 
Well, Im fairly set on the NEA BCG as its a requirement for the NEA CCS stock which I am at this point not changing. The barrel, Im really interested in that polygonal rifling...

If theres a better barrel... Im open to changing but I have yet to see anything negative about the NEA barrels, in fact quite the contrary.

If you already own the Colt, I would just swap out the trigger, hand guard and the charging handle
, because you not going to get any better performance than a upgraded Colt.
 
Wasting alot of money on designer parts.

Seems like you made your shopping list solely on CGN .

Forget some of that crap e.g $300+ on a rail? and just get a nice barrel.
 
Slightly offtopic, but since you're going with a VLTOR upper, make sure you have an upper vice block that will work with it. The usual clamshell type won't work with them as they are (over)built to a slightly different spec. You will need the type that holds the upper by the pivot and takedown pins.

Good to know. Dont have a vice period yet so Ill have to keep that in mind.
 
I will be honest, I am working on a build and this has really been bothering me… does it really make sense for me to put a $300 hand guard over a $215 barrel on a $240 upper… maybe the NEA barrels are really amazing, but the whole thing gives me the heebie jeebies… so its going to have to be a $300 hand guard, $215 barrel, $180 upper… lol... I am not giving up the hand guard...
