So I got some new jewelry for the Colt and think I may have made it full auto

In my mind any LEO worth his salt would make a difference between a firearm deliberately assembled as a FA, and one that is either incorrectly assembled (happens) or has a part that breaks which ends up making the firearm accidentally go FA. As long as the owner genuinely seeks to correct the problem, I fails to see an issue. I can think of several types of firearms that would go FA is a sear was to snap, which does happen. No intent, no crime, at least in my mind.

Frankie says relax.
Sorry, I just get a little worked up when I think about good people getting nailed for bulls**t crimes. I didn't mean to crap on your thread, and I'm glad you got useful advice. I just think it's better to err on the side of caution when discussing things like this. Our laws and the some of the people enforcing them are screwed up enough that people are being charged and having their guns taken away for mere mistakes like yours (unsafe storage, anyone?).

As for the Μολὼν λάβε tough guy crowd, if you are so confident phone the RCMP right now and tell them you've accidentally assembled your handgun in a way that makes it fire full auto and ask what you should do. Record the call and post it here. Do you think they will say: (a) send it to a gunsmith, (b) try fixing it yourself or (c) what is your name again?

Yeah... that's what I thought.

If the trigger moves too far rearward the hammer will always fall... adjust the trigger set screw accordingly.

No, not in this case. Trust me, I was pulling with pretty well everything I had.

The gun only worked as it should when the parts were in proper alignment, as they are now.

Dude, most RCMP members know less about guns then I do. I would have asked my question and would have expected to hear "Whats a Colt"?????

:D

*MMkay, if your going to infract me for saying the above, can I just get a one-pointer? I've already got 4 and a major would put me over. MMkay, thanks* :)

Those parts usually require fitting.

And a little knowledge.

I can't believe how many threads are on this site dealing with people who take stuff apart when they have absolutely no idea what they are doing.

Yet they act totally amazed when the gun does not work anymore and is unsafe to shoot.

Pile of idiots is my opinion.

Take it to a gunsmith and get back a gun that is safe to shoot.

A few years back I was at the local police range when a citizen that had a range pass was there test shooting a 1911 in .38 Super he had been doing a "trigger job" on. Looked like he had gone a bit too far with his work on the sear as it went full auto on him. Luckily, he had only been loading 3 rounds in his mags in test of his work. He tried out a couple more mags and sure enough, full auto each time.

Interestingly, there were a few off duty cops present, but no one did anything more than suggest he get a new sear for his pistol & start over. No one called the local RCMP about it. No one got all worked up over the issue. Buddy went home and a couple weeks later his 1911 was all fixed and running properly when he got his replacement part(s). Funny, that....

whats even worse worse is the pistol he bought was a nice custom gun built by one of canada's best gunsmiths, and now he is ####ing with it himself, got to love home gunsmiths.

You are such a bulls**tter. I studied this case in case law. Isn't this the one where the off duty cops shriveled into old donuts, too afraid to combat the full auto and they RCMPeed themselves? One activated his direct panic line to then opposition leader Stephan Dion who came crashing in wearing a Canadian flag for a cape with a tactical team of volunteer, unpaid, unarmed Auxiliaries who hurled Canadian Topping combo Pizzas at the accused. The accused fell to the ground from the stinging of pineapple in his eye (why the f**k is pineapple on 'Canadian' pizza anyway) and Stephan Dion used an UNREVISED non-pocket edition of the Criminal Code to subdue the accused. The arrest didn't make headlines because the guy wasn't a real criminal and Dion wasn't a real hero.

The end.

Gee, I don't believe how many posts you can make with your foot firmly implanted in you mouth... I guess you've never heard about glass houses...

Some people actually have learned that although they have an opinion it's not required that it be shared with everyone...

People don't learn things by doing nothing... But I'm guessing you believe they can...

Where in the f**k did you go to law school? Where is his criminal intent?

Can we just let this guy ask his s**t without all the comedians and a**holes making snarky comments. Targettarget, try the gunsmithing section, they might be a little bit more help and you might avoid some of this crap.[/QUOTE

criminal intent doesnt mean jack crap with a FA.....
"oh i have this FA Restricted weapon officer but i didnt mean it...really..."
"you mean you read me bragging about it on CGN???!"
"but i didnt MEAN IT"

Gee I guess nobody had better buy an SKS becuase if the FP ever does stick and you get a slamfire and empty the mag you are " CRIMINAL" So says GOOZYMAN...

Folks there have been several cases where guns have gone full auto due to failure or bad smithing and noone has been charged....

You can make these wild comments to your hearts content.. and You can make silly suggestions that you call the RCMP and ask stupid questions..

But you know it's BS.. Maybe you are enjoying spreading the FUD but we really don't need any more mall ninja's....
