So I hate thread protectors

Looked at the long bbl Henry, beautiful gun till you get to the muzzle. Freakin knurled round cap on the octagon bbl looks crappy. What on earth would make them think a classic lever gun would need any accessory stuck on the end of the barrel?

IIRC, on a rimfire you can as long as the overall length of the firearms is greater than 26". If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me.

Would a 223 brake work, or so they need to be specifically made for 22?

Like I said, never looked to far into it. I bought a CZ last year that came from factory with a brake and it shoots like a house on fire although I find the brake somewhat visually unappealing. I mentioned to someone who is more knowledgable than I that I was going to pitch it, but finding thread protectors for CZ's is a task. He pointed out that if it shoots well I might not want to. Good enough for me.

More civilized countries will let you put a suppresor on your 22.

Just look for a Napa 4003 on some straight from China website. Should be good to go. Don't blame me if the cops show up though.

It's precisely the same diameter (which is the number that counts), just a lighter and slower bullet.

That's my understanding also.
- OK to buy a barrel that was manufactured under 18.5"
- Not OK to cut one down to the same length...

You can cut a barrel down to 18" on a rimfire or manual action centerfire. Or install any barrel you want as long as the overall length is still over 26". 18.5" barrel is to keep a semi auto centerfire non restricted.

So I can’t as I have an 18 inch, probably more cost effective to just buy the 20$ bird cage
