I had the 226 Norinco clone and really loved it. The new owner though dry fired it enough times without snap caps to break the firing pin :D

But it was a good pistol! I remember shooting it when it was so cold outside I couldn't even feel my hands. Every time I pulled the trigger I almost lost my grip on the gun :p
 
One thing about the 229, the strap holding the grip screw bushing is really thin and makes it hard to replace a bushing if you strip a screw. so be careful there.

Was thinking about asking how that transfer is going but for some reason it seems like a touchy subject. :p
 
I was told that for the 9mm kits it's because there are a barrel change required to make it legal in Canada but I don't understand the logic at all really

if you are just looking for a plain black one buy it in .22 and then buy the x-change kit in a 9mm or .40... you will save a lot of $ that way and still have the same package as if you buy the p226 9mm then buy the x-change kit...

the catch is...some of the items are on back order and the x-change kit only comes with 1 mag, mags are about $50 each...give or take a little.
call the and see what they have and how long to get it.
also, technically you have to either re-register the pistol as the new caliber or it has to have the .22 caliber on it for "x" amount of the time...cant remember exactly.


i was asking around the sig forum first, and they all say its the exact same frame and all other internal parts, so no worries.
you dont get the option of the different frame colours and grips, and ive also heard bad things about the sig mosquito.

Save 200.00 = 4 additional mags for the same price. That sounds like a good deal. It's the re-registering part I don't get. The pistol frame is still the same (BTW, I like plain Jane Sigs), the firearm is not being permanently altered with the X-Change kit.

FYI the P229 grip girth is the same as the P226 "if you have small hands, you need a short trigger and E2 grip installed"

This is not true. The 229 grip is actually wider than the 226's, by about 2mm.

Tell me about it, just got a 226 2 weeks ago and have already been toying with the idea of getting the 226 mk25 (not to mention looking at some of the other models)
