So I just bought a Sig P229

I must say this P229 has a tough recoil spring in it. A lot tougher than my 1911 anyways. You really

Switching to the .22LR slide and back can't be easier. Matter of seconds. The followers in the .22LR mags "lock" the slide back although not with the slide release sadly. The slide stays locked open on the follower so when you take the empty mag out the slide slams shut. Although this supposedly might be due to the ammo I'm using. Got to pick up some CCI and retest.

Love the night sights on the 9mm slide.

I also have two different sets of mags for the 9mm. The original Sig Sauer mags are insanely annoying to get 10 rounds into. The last round is a TIGHT fit. The other two are Mec-Gar mags and they are nice to load.

Put the Hogue grip onto the gun and it was almost night and day difference. Love it!

Frame made in Germany and Slide made in the US.

The .22 magazines followers are aftermarket... The original ones that come with the magazines, do not lock the slide at all..

Yeah I remember that from your ad.

Anyways now for some pics!

Nice pistol...looks kind of familiar ;)

I agree about the night sights, some of the best I've used and I liked them better than the ones on my glock.

Have you had a chance to shoot it yet?

Yup! Although not since I changed the grip, the stock grip I wasn't a fan of! Hoping to go out again soon!

I also found the stock grips on my 229 (and 226) a little too smooth. I also switched to the Hogues for a bit, then right back to grip tape. I much prefer the grip tape.

The P229 is a fraction too small for my hands it seems. With the hogue it is much better. Ah well the gun still operates the same. Now I need a laser for it and maybe a tac-light... oh and a new holster! Maybe a new pistol case or some new phone for my old pistol case!

A German made...Swiss assembled (for their military) SIG 220 in 9mm is the only SIG worth owning!!! The rest are just as cookie cutter as Glocks :p

So is this your first true (aka not a Norinco) Sig Drache?

How are you finding the finger grip mags? Do you have to lift your pinky like you're at an "English tea party" to get it to drop free due to the finger groove on the base plate hanging up on your finger?

The hogue grip really helps keep the fingers in place. As for my pinky, my hands seem to be just small enough that my pinky fits perfectly into that slot like it should.
