Just drive around the Lowermainland then. You'll see tons of those types around. Nothing more "free thinking" than adding a huge spoiler to an Acura NSX, weird paint schemes or tacky vehicle add ons. Ferarri, Mercedes, BMW and even a purple volvo with a big wing on the back of the station wagon are fair game down here. Seems those with poor tastes aren't so rare after all. Hah I see you took my opinion and twisted it up... Personally I'd never do such a thing to my firearms, I like a clean, simple, yet slightly customized look. Just like when it comes to my Dodge Cummins, snowmobile, and ATV. A blacked out look is more my style. All in all I just admire this guy's attitude to not give a #### about what others think and does what he wants.

I just like black because it doesn't show the dirt so much... to each their own.
I also don't like coloured surfaces on things that get used, end up with wear and then it doesn't look as nice.
If I had the money to burn on a gun that wouldn't see so much use, sure, I'd have a statement piece that just screamed "LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME!!!!" instead I just do that with large calibers that make people think I'm trying to compensate for other things lol
Then again, it's all personal taste, just like my gf wants an AR in pink.

Nah, wasn't trying to twist it. I just see this all the time. Usually it's more frequent with those who are given everything and didn't have to work for it. If you had to earn it I find you're much more likely to 1) Take really good care of your stuff, 2) not want to mess it up and 3) not be so thrilled with something that seemed cool for 5 minutes and then isn't cool again the next day.
Just my thoughts on it. But ultimately it's his/her property so they can do whatever they want with it. But as with vehicles where you can spot a kid's car a mile away, the same goes for firearms. If you've got the money and that floats your boat then so be it. Personally I don't respect that though and think it's just tacky. Still looking forward to seeing this monstrosity though! Better his rifle than mine!!
