Bought my first reloading kit and 300 win mag dies to start. Any advice for a newbie? Anyone around Moose Jaw Saskatchewan willing to drop buy for a beer and show me the ropes hahaha.

Take it easy and resize in a couple of stages.
300WM cases can be a bear to resize, you will have to figure out how much lube to apply and where.
Get ready for a few dimpled cases, and hopefully no stuck ones.

Only 1 dimpled case out of 50 resized so far. So I'm happy that. I'm going to work up slowly last thing I want to do is blow up my gun. And I have no intrest in pushing the envelop... I'll stay under the max loads from published data. But ya I decided to buy the 190 gr VLD hunting bullets and giver a try. Before that I was shooting factory 200 gr EDL-X rounds.

Use these, and it doesn't hurt to have a manual in front of you. It's better to check 5 times, every time, than it is to "be pretty sure" and make a mistake

EDIT: Looking at your picture again it seems the setup you bought includes a manual in the box
 
I would advise not to be too hung up on specific brands. I own Lee, RCBS, Lyman, Hornady, CH4, and Pacific (now Hornady I think) dies. Lyman makes a great case prep tools. I love Lee factory crimp dies. I have 3 Lee presses. My digital scale is a brand I don't remember (Sharpshooter?). All of the major brands produce quality equipment that most people will find totally acceptable. Yes, I'm sure someone shooting out to 1 km won't be happy with my dies, but for hunting or target practice, any of the name brands would be fine.

sounds like my reloading bench, black, red, green, blue, orange, I have all the brands represented there.

different tools for different jobs, and I too like the lee factory crimp dies.
 
Congratulations on getting into one of the most rewarding hobbies ever! I’ve been reloading for over a decade. Self taught through books and fantastic reloaders online. It opens up a bunch of doors if you like odd calibers, etc. Get you basics down first. Load for standard calibers until you learn the ropes well. I own about 20 manuals which all have a a few gems in them.

Be meticulous with your powder. Some things you just don’t want to make mistakes doing;)

Most of all. Have fun as you will learn a new skill, shoot a lot more…. And likely buy some oddball guns…

Inspect a lot. Especially before seating bullets, look down from directly above your loading block or tray and confirm every shell has a powder charge. Easy to miss one and you don't want to find out what happens then.
 
Although I like to go to the reloading room to unwind,it is advised not to be to wound up when you go in.it is important to be in the moment.made a few powder mistakes by feeling stressed and rushed.just take your time.when do the mineral springs open,been there about 30 times.the bar down the street was trouble lol.enjoy it is a great hobby but your not going to save a dime
 
1) buy NEW brass, keep that brass dedicated to that chamber only (until it's time for another lot of NEW brass)... leave range pick-up toilette brass for others to fight with.
2) Use Imperial Sizing Die Wax (but I see you have a progressive so Imperial could be a pain in the butt)... Use good lube...

That’s about everything you need to reload right there.

Now remember this thread and pic ten or so years down the road when your reloading equipment has filled an entire room in the house or the whole garage.
 
Hahaha ya I hear you, just done my first work up load of 60 rounds. The hodgdon powder websight said this load with the 190gr HPBT bullet should have a max charge of 73 gr of h4831sc that I'm using. they said start at 69.5gr on there sight but I wanted to start 10% under load and that would be 65.5 gr to start. I did 4 rounds of each doing half grain increase per 4 to be safe. I'm using 190 gr Berger VLD hunting ammo, Federal match large rifle magnum primers, H4831sc powder and I'm using once fired Hornady brass that was all from my rifle that I'm working the load too.
