So, I couldn't pass up the $150 SKS. I have a couple already but you can't have too many. I've been to Lever befor and have never been too impressed with the attitude of the staff. Just a case of not being freindly.
The good and the bad of today The bad. As soon as I said hello to the guy at the counter, he let me know how very busy he was. The SKSs are in a cabinet and he has to take them out for you. The first three that I pointed out and he handed over were'nt what I was looking for. As he put the last one back, he said that I get one more choice, then that's it. Really? You can't see the year or maker when they are in the cabinet so you have to guess.
The good. The last one I picked out (my last chance) turned out to be a 55/56 in as near mint as I have ever seen. After stripping it when I got it home, it looks as though it has never seen more than the proof rounds.
Overall, a good time. Just don't expect a freindly chat down there.
After that I went to Reliable Guns and made a few more purchases and had a freindly chat with a couple of the staff. One guy at the counter was explaining the workings of a new purchase to a customer for the whole 1/2 hr I was there. What a difference

OK, since there's some strong opinion on said dealer, I think our groupbuy will take our business elsewhere. We're ordering long distance, the info Lever supplies through email is vague at best.
Thanks for the input, we may have avoided a royal PITA.

I couldn't agree more.

Maybe one day the people at Lever will read some of these posts bashing them and change their attitude, God knows they have the time. I Went in there last September when I was in Vancouver, I was looking around, with a burning need to buy something, when I saw a CZ 858, one of the Canadian Editions with the nice furniture on it. I got one of the guys to open the cabinet, and once I had in my hands it was sold. I was the only customer in the store, one of the guys opened a box to see if that particular rifle was suitable for me and made sure it was going to be well packaged, as I was having it shipped home. I didn't want to #### around with Air Canada brining it home. I bought a crate of ammo at the same time I was there. My impression? They weren't the most helpful salespeople I had to deal with that day or the worst. Seems to me to be the way it is these days. Poor customer service, some people just don't give a :bigHug::bigHug::bigHug::bigHug: about how they do their jobs. I have had other dealings with them online and always got what they advertised, maybe I've been lucky, but it is up to to us to look out for ourselves especially when buying online. I have bought from many of the sponsors on this site and a number of members on EE and have had excellent dealings with them all.
Caveat Emptor!

Wow really ?? Where is all the lever bashers, It has to be the WORST ever gun store, junk junk and more junk. no warranty no service rude and if you go there its like your wasting there time.... will never go there again had nothing but bad dealings and big fights with current owners.. DO NOT GO THERE!!!... any place is better than there
:agree:
They are real d bag's. I WILL NEVER SHOP AT THAT HORIBLE STORE EVER AGAIN!
Its a sticky at the top of the F$@#ing RED RIFLE section........
No need to bash the noobe's. Plus I don't think any one ever reads the damm stickey's anyways.

I just wrapped up an order for one rifle not two minutes ago. No complaints on the customer service side of things from me. The only weird thing was the requirement to phone in your payment info after ordering online, their website 'shopping cart' does everything but accept payment.

I spoke with a younger sounding guy, so probably not the owner. He confirmed my order and shipping details, took my payment info and read it back to me to confirm it was correct and told me 'no problem' when I requested a rifle with a silver bolt. Perfectly friendly and polite and the whole call took about four minutes tops.

That was my experience, but your mileage may vary.

I went into lever yesterday and bought my first sks and I'm happy with the service and the gun. I called ahead to make sure they had stock then went down. Picked one from the cabinet then called him over. Before he even gave it to me he checked it over and worked the action, he wasn't happy with it so he told me he needed to work on it and wouldn't sell it to me. I told him I wanted silver bolt with hardwood stock and he picked one, checked it over, was happy with it then gave it to me for approval. It looked good to me then I told him it's my first sks and I needed a crash course. This was at 5:45 pm, they close at 6. I was the last customer so we took it to the counter and he pulled it apart step by step and showed me what to do and then how to reassemble. I paid for it, he handed me the brown paper bag of accessories and I was on my way. I didn't even realize until today when I took it apart to clean it, I was expecting mismatched everything which is no problem cause I am going tapco with scope but it turns out it is fully numbers matching througout. Stock, receiver, clip, gas tube, bolt, everything I took apart was labelled the same. For $150, I'm definately happy.. There was no real friendly small talk but for getting in and out with a field strip demo and a nice quality gun, it was a good experience.

I bought an SKS, a TT33 and a Norinco 97-1 riot shotgun from Lever over the years, and never had any issues with the staff or my purchases. I remember having a lengthy discussion with the clerks about the cool Milsurps they have hanging on the walls, there was no hostility or impatience radiating from them that I noticed......

I only had a good experience with Lever.........slight #### up on magazine order, sent me 2 free mags and covered all postage, and an apology. All I had to do was make one phonecall and politely point out the #### up.

Bought yet another (#5!) SKS from Lever this weekend. And I still have yet to encounter what many are complaining about here. Perhaps their attitudes mirror those of their customers?

Just sayin...

Just means they referbished the bolt and bayonet ie they blued them you can do it your self with your own firearm if you want who cares they're cheap enough...

It is actually painted and not blued,
I removed the black paint, and polished the bolt.
Nov I have a silver bolt sks and you would not be able to tell that it was black bolt.

Don't remember where I got mine.. But it was a 5PK in grease with a crate of ammo for 599.... May have been Milarm.. I still have 2 of them..

Anyone know if the 7.62x39mm ammo that they sell there is non-corrosive?
They say it's not and want like $400 for 1440 rounds but it's a green box and last time I seen the green box there they said it was corrosive.

Unfortunately, it's corrosive. I have some and it is head stamped '72 (which I believe is many years before the Chinese started manufacturing non-corrosive). It looks to me as though these are standard Chinese double spam can crates that have been sprayed green with English stenciling in white. I don't know whether someone pulled a fast one on Lever, or of Lever is trying to pull a fast one...

Not a chance.

Why would I ever return to a store like that when Reliable is somewhat nearby. They have always been helpful and friendly.
