I love my SKS from Lever. It was clean and had very little cosmolene on it. My experience there was just fine. It wasn't the best retail experience ever........but I'm happy.....Get in....get out!! :)

They seem reasonable to deal with (Leaver Arms). I haven't bought anything from them yet, but when I called about hand picking an SKS they didn't seem to have a problem with it... but, they said to call back in a few weeks as their SKS supply has been decimated by their Xmas sale. I have pretty much called every big gun store that sells the SKS. Some will take the time to handpick for you. Some don't even bother. Frontier Firearms is at the top of my list. The salesman I talked to there was real easy to deal with. He walked right to his racks with me on the phone and we went thru some of his stock.

I go to Lever Arms because they have what I want, cheap as well usually...

I've experienced their version of customer service; too bad so sad, so I go in with adjusted expectations.

Tho' IF I were going in for a multiple gun and ammo purchase, I *might* be tempted to expect better courtesy, as I have the money, that they want. It's the way the game's played, ffs.

This is a post of mine that I copied and pasted from a locked thread. I can not in good conscience recommend lever to anyone.

"I had my last shopping trip ever at lever just recently. Went in to buy 2 or 3 SKSs while they were on sale. Getting the salesperson to get out from behind the counter to open the display case seemed like he was doing me a huge favour. Pointed at the first SKS I wanted to look at and proceeded to try to pop open the gas tube to have a peek at the gas system. I was stopped before I could (and judging from the damage to the wood on the gas tube and around the latch I don't think I would have been able to) and told I was not allowed to "disassemble the gun into little pieces". Funny, it hadn't been an issue when I had gone in before with a newbie shooter buying his first SKS. But then again that time we were served by one of the new staff there.

So I related this to the clerk and he replied that he didn't know who served us last time but that it was store policy that I could not examine the gun in that way. Also that there was no need for me to as the gun was "arsenal refurbished" and therefore "guaranteed". At this time I asked him who was guaranteeing it and directed his attention to their policy displayed that says used/surplus firearms are sold "as is, no warranty". I asked him why I was not allowed to examine the gun in light of such a policy. He then said if I had a problem "I could bring it right back". I again pointed out the policy and asked again who was guaranteeing the gun. At this point he sayed I could speak to the manager. I told him not to bother.

So who was "serving" me? None other than Blair Hagen himself. Blair if you are reading this please feel free to tell your side of the story. I was the guy who wished you a Merry Christmas and waved goodbye with my wallet full of cash as I walked out, never to return.

PS

The manager who he sayed I could speak with was the same guy who had previously told me the Norc m14 I was interested in was milsurp and therefore not warranteed. The same manager said the same thing about a BNIB cz858."

Im gonna jump on the bad experience at lever arms vancouver train because they deserve it. Quite simply they are a bad business, end of story.. bad CS, bad/false advertising, bad manager, bad overall, there is a reason they arent CGN sponsors anymore... Avoid at all costs, doesn't help our industry to support bad businesses. They have been caught in lies and scams and simply constantly either pass the buck or try to make out that its your fault or someone you cant hold liable that is at fault. I have seen their shady sales and dealings as well and dont agree with what they do. Could go on for days about how atrocious they are but they already wasted enough of my time and effort. Don't let them waste yours. This isnt a mud sling, this is straight truth to their garbage business habits and bad treatment of a lot of their customers. I want new shooters and those who are curious to know its not okay to just lay down and take bad business as a "lesson learned". We want proper business is all, too much to ask for? I think not.

Again avoid it if you appreciate good business.

Wanstalls or Reliable...I've had exceptional service from both...no bullsh1z, give newbs like me their time, friendly and not intimidating at all. Local..worth the drive.

Can't say enough about these 2.

It's a gun shop. What the heck do you people want, a friggin B.J. And a latte?

I think part of this might be due to how some of you people look... Maybe the other men aren't showing you respect because you're "low T", if you get my drift.

Go in and say what you've got to say, get your gun and go home. I don't go into a gas station and ask to touch all the smokes. Frig...

Do you work at Lever?
But seriously, if you compare Lever to any other gun store around Vancouver, you cant compare. I get better service at the gas station then at Lever.
Also, a pack of smoke is not a couple hundred dollars....your comparison is weak.

I just noticed lever reduced the apparently non-corrosive 1440 round cases of 7.62x39 to 299. Does anyone know if this is actually non-corrosive? I know I read in one of these lever bashing threads that somebody said some rounds were in fact corrosive.

It is corrosive 100% confirmed with a primer on bright nail test. 71/32 headstamp, green case, spam cans. They will claim its been tested extensively to be proven non corrosive; when in fact they have done no testing. anyone who has shopped for x39 surplus knows this is obviously corrosive, especially at 299 now. Sold it to me at 375 a case, they knew the scam they were false advertising.. but they want your money more. They just blame china and you for the corrosive primers..

Went to lever to buy an sks today... One of the employees was grabbing a rifle from the selection of sks rifles they had to ship to an online buyer, he grabbed the only black bolt, completely painted, and with black bayonet rifle there was. Out of all the ones on the rack.. even the rear leaf sight was a parkerized one. There were some nice ones too. This had nothing to do with me but I felt my stomach churn for whomever was going to get that rifle in the mail! The whole rifle was bubbad from the refurb.

Ceilingcat I know you're watching me at times, but it doesn't bother me <3

So inform me. Are you required to wear camo and a Browning hat to get respect? How about a trucker hat that says "Dine 'em, Whine 'em, Sixty Nine 'em". Seriously, Is the gun crowed in B.C. that arrogant? The "I am so manly that my ##### shoots 1/2" groups" mentality.

Thanks for the info, I see now there's a whole thread on the topic. Will defiantly stay away.

No, I don't work for lever. The customer service would be far worse if I did... ;)
Your right, a pack of smokes isn't in the same price range as a crappy surplus sks... But you might be missing the point, these are only $200 skses. They are not fine firearms, investments, heirlooms or keepsakes. Get over it pull up your big boy pants and go buy a rifle, be thankful Allen doesn't own the store any longer. He would have eaten half you pu$$y$ for lunch.

It doesn't matter what you wear.... A pu$$y always looks like a pu$$y. The wolf pack always finds weakness and the weak cry about it on the Internet.

Blair is a good guy. He does more for the gun community than cgn has ever done... Keep b!tching. Damn kids.

I guess spotting a puzzy is easier in Vancouver (Davie village, crack heads)

I am also not complaining about anything. I have never been to Lever Arms, so I do not have a strongly negative or positive opinion. But is it not the weak who are the first to judge and ridicule? (I do not want to get into a discussion of psychoanalysis)

This thread is pretty funny. I have personally never had bad service there but I get the frustration. I find the "not for newbs" comment pretty good. I get not knowing a lot everyone starts somewhere, but if I'm waiting in line behind the guy that needs the sales guy to explain 22 long and 22 long rifle are not the same thing I'm not going to hurry back.

cant imagine a ex-member here working there , hes a real douchebag , hes been banned here several times and each time he sneaks back.

his name is mike , he thinks he is "the big man" , the only thing big he has is a swell head but no light up there . lol.

Hate Lever arms with my heart worst customer service I ever experienced. You want to save money and get rusty sks then go there. People treated me as a scumbag. When I asked to look through rifles in the back to see if they had Izhevsky I got negative attitude. My friend bought one and when he took it apart some parts were rusted. Never ever will I go there again. They need to change sales people may be put a few dumb blondes at least we can look at something with better looks
