So, I'm fixing up my enfield..

I sold the Rifle to TransAm1991 reluctantly because I had only recently bought it from a great guy in B.C. and never got around to shooting it. I had a hunch that he would appreciate it more then I would and am very pleased that I was right. This is a great thread.

It's in great shape! Pretty sure it's all matching hardware, too! Thanks for the sale!

Update: My parts just shipped today, can't wait to start putting this baby together!

Everyone remembers their first (enfield) ;)

I'm sure they remember the shock of shooting it for the first time!
My old man was standing 15 feet away with his ears plugged, seen/heard me shoot it, and refused to try it!
It kicked enough that I was shooting about a foot higher than my target, I gotta get used to this thing!

Doing more research, it seems the bands for the upper, and lower hand guards don't come with the screws.. And Numrich is sold old.. Anyone have a line on some of those? Or is it a common size that I can search out at Home Depot?

I also noticed, that my front sight is missing the guard.. And the little tombstone that fits in is a little bit loose, any suggestions?

PM me ,I have a Guard and the screw to go with it,as for the band screws i had a lot of help from the CDN Gun Nutz in finding them,They are out there but hard to find.

Here it is, I'm just test fitting everything now, the lower handguard required a little bit of sanding for the trigger guard to fit, but once on, it was fine.
The upper rear hand guard is a little bit different colour, almost like it has an oil coating.

The butt stock I recieved with it is pretty rough, the one mine came with is in pristine shape, but it's almost a different wood, could someone explain this more clearly? And how would I get it to match the other pieces.
Thanks, KP.

It is different wood. then lower stock and front handguard are beech, the rear handguard lookd like walnut and the butt stock looks like???? I don't know. with stains you can sometimes change the colour to match better, but the different wood and grain will always show.

I was considering staining them a darker colour anyway, maybe I can just match them up..
but that is true with the grains, I'll have to email numrich about that, I bought the stock and hand guard in a kit that should have been all matching.

EDIT
On a further note, I examined the handguards side by side, and it seems to be the same grain, now, I'm also noticing the rear upper has some kind of, either laquer, or oil giving it a shiny coating, could the coating make it seem darker?
The camera really makes the difference apparent hah.

I would call them, see if they'll do anything. If not I would check ebay,or put a want ad on the EE. If your looking for one piece, you can at least see the item and get something close. lots of single pieces or full sets show up on ebay and the EE.

Perhaps I worded my statement wrong, I meant it had me baffled they came up with something like that so long ago!

The first Enfields (Lee Metfords) had an 8 round in line magazine. No charger loading back then, and that was the reason for the mag cutoff. They were single loaded and the mag was kept in reserve untill the bad guys got close or in case of a sudden cavalry attack. The Boers taught the brits a hard lesson about charger loading with their mausers.
