If I only take one firearm camping it's my 870, folding stock, extended mag, surefire fore end and a good selection of slugs, buckshot and bird loads. I keep the mag full, only unload it in a vehicle.

Agreed. I carry slugs for bear and #4 buck for cougers and 2 legs.
