I'm thinking about doing something custom and was thinking that either I buy a Stevens 200 and mod it to hell, or do I buy a rem 700 sps and do a few mods to it?

Looking for a project to work on, but would rather buy a $300 gun and put $1000 into it rather than a $700 gun and put $1000 into it, specially if I am replacing some good parts with better parts..

Look at it this way, if you were building a house you would want a GOOD base to start from. Soooo using a REMINGTON 700 action is the way to go and build on that. In the end you will have a rifle with a good action and a great resale value.

I've seen some very good shooters built on the Stevens but they are not my cup of tea. So a Remington SPS or similar over Stevens for me any day and every day.
