So IPSC Ont is concerned with loosing Members to IDPA

Meh.

From a beginners IPSC perspective, the serious IPSC guys take the sport way too seriously and always want to compete, whereas the IDPA guys seem more content to just enjoy the sport for what it is and not be as competitive.

I thought IDPA is not a sport. ;)
But then what is the point of sport if you dont want to be competitive?

So once again...........we are back to you displaying a lack of knowledge or needing a new car not to mention learning how to write posts with less chance for missinterpretation between you and your car.

Storm, it was you who disagreed. :p
I didnt said carry on me and I am sure you got what I meant by now. You been involved in too much politics. :)

Lol...we're so worried about it we put a link to IDPA on the website!
Honestly it's all good, I shoot anything I can, IPSC, Action Pistol, Precision Rifle, CQB and I have shot Bullseye and PPC, once in awhile I play on the trap range. We'd all be better off if we get along instead of competing for members.

Pat, that's the attitude we need instead of running down other disciplines.

livingston can be a bit of a ##### with all the hills, but you just leave stuff at the car till you need it. You walk past it a few times anyway

Now to me that sounds like you are complaining that is too much for YOU to carry. The only competition I am aware of in which you have to carry all your gear including guns in the Ironman competition and that is the ONLY one.

little off on that number, trooper divsion is offered at a lot of 3-gun matches.
The gear is a bit cumbersome to lug around at times, and the buggies can add to the pain as much as they help depending on the range conditions.

From my perspective IDPA seems way more friendly towards newbies in the sport.

Just my .02 though, I may be wrong.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

thats because you havent shot a major IDPA match, every sport has its "####s and giggles" group and its "in it to win it" group. nothing wrong with either one. IDPA's new in Canada so there aren't as many upper level competitors around yet. The big boys at IDPA nats are there to win, not to go play with guns and wear vests.

No I have been involved in READING to much and thinking that people write what they are actually trying to say.

If you had separated the concepts of carrying too much gear from liking the agility you might have a point.

However if you have ever shot an EESA 3 gun match you would know that you can be (or better yet must be )agile with a rifle or shotgun as well.

Here it is once again.......
Don't know about all you guys, but it is way too much stuff to carry for 3gun matches. I like the agility and speed of IPSC.

You are directly talking about too much stuff to carry and there is Zero mention of vehicles what so ever. There is mention of you and a desire for speed and agilty which would be hampered if you had to carry all your gear (as in the now mentioned trooper division).

Well said, I couldn't agree more!

Bah Competition is for those who have some burning desire to be the best or just to win or both. I shoot because I love to shoot. Period. IPSC wasn't at my club, but a variation of IDPA was. Had IPSC been there, I'd probably shoot it too. (Hell I was >< close to getting into CAS, until those who ran it at our club had a hissy fit with the execs and up and scampered to another club.)

IDPA/IPSC/ODPL/any sort of multigun/etc... Do it because you love shooting. Do it because you CAN still do it. As was said earlier, none of us are getting any younger; so enjoy it while you are able.

Who knows when you'll be saying "When I was younger I could keep up with the likes of Rob Leatham... (who will be 50 this year, BTW)."

I shoot both ipsc and idpa, the only iddies i have with eaither is some of the idiots that are involved, but its the same with any sport.
My Fav games in 3 gun, but real 2 or 3 gun not the stupid rules we are stuck with in ontario.

I used to shoot IPSC and will probably be getting back into it this summer if time allows, this last season I shot IDPA and had a great time and will be shooting it again this season.

As a couple of people have stated already, it's not the game/rules that I have a problem with it's some of the other competitors. I'm out to have a good time, but with that being said no one likes to lose. People that drag a rule book around with them and paper cut other competitors to death piss me off. If some one is blatantly breaking the rules then by all means penalize them, but if it's a trivial ,nitpicking ,little known, BS sub section LMNOP.23 rule that a new guy accidentally skirts DON'T jump down his throat.

Every one knows "THAT GUY" in the club try not to be him and help the other competitors, and if you are that guy RELAX or piss off. Other than that I look forward to shooting with you guys/girls this season.

John, stop arguing and go with your earlier thought - Use the BAN HAMMER!!! :HR:

Yeah... Gotta travel a little in order to really rock and roll

Our 2011 season is shaping up nicely though..

So far we're booked for
-BlueRidge 3 gun Championship April 29-May 01 Park City Ky
-Mountaineer Multigun Aug 28-29 in Summit Point, WV
-Ozark 3 Gun Championships Sept 9-11
-FNH USA 3 Gun Championship November 10-12 Glengary, WV
-Tactical Shotgun Championship Aug 19-20 St. Cloud, MN
-Ft. Benning 3-gun challenge in DEc if we get in

Then there's the regular monthly 3-gun shannannighans at BWSA and Livingston in MI. Plus whatever comes up here at home or gets posted on enos.:D

'Better start loading more ammo :D

Much prefer IPSC over 3 gun. Not interested in dragging that much gear to the range on any kind of regular basis. 3 Gun is fun, don't get me wrong, and so is IDPA, but not fun enough (for me) to get me that interested in it. I like handguns. If I'm going to shoot other matches it would be sniper type stuff like we sour here already.

Well said, now if we could just get all the fudd/anti fudd and tactical/anti tactical folk to get along toow:h:
