Yup, I still want one.

In this set-up the longer barrel doesn't look too awkward. Especially with a large scope mounted... I wonder how a Leatherwood CMR would look on it?

I am really curious how many of the parts are interchangeable with the VZ 58 and the CZ 858's seeing as the dust cover and receiver have been modified.

What is the advantage of this over a vz. 58 with a side rail from CSA? The CSA vz. 58 is drilled and tapped for a mount already.

Maybe because the CZ858 was a superior platform to the CSA version, which had a ton of issues (some that you still read about) and the 858's were priced cheaper than the CSA. Other than the easily fixable trigger gremlin, the CZ was almost indestructible. CZ sold a ton of them and how many problems did you read about? When and if these get approved, they'll sell like hotcakes as long as the price isn't too steep. An upgraded CZ858 brought into the 21st century = CZ958 will be a success for sure.

Just my opinion, I'm sure many will agree with me. I just read too much BS about the CSA's to buy one right now. My 858 was awesome.

The CSA vz. 58's no longer have issues. There was a single batch that had issues and the warranty process covers it free of charge.

The 958 will not be cheaper than the CSA vz. 58. The 858 rifles were only cheap because they were military surplus.

How is the 958 an 858 brought into the 21st century? It's a new receiver with surplus parts and a replacement top cover that has a rail. I don't see the modernization?

Your mind was already made up when you asked the question, feel free to not buy one when and if they come out. It's as modern as the CSA... without the pedigree of QC problems which have plagued the CSA VZ58's. Still reading about over-gassing, bolts breaking, etc. Whether it's one batch or not, I'm still reading about the problems.

Their warranty center fixing problems that should never have been there, still isn't a plus for the rifle. My buddy bought one last year and it was a POS. Off to Movie Arms...

All I did was state facts. I'm just looking for answers. If "It's just a an 858 with a rail" is the answer then I don't get the hype, that's all. The CSA vz. 58 is already drilled and tapped for a scope mount that is readily available.

Wolverine has 4 threads if you want to educate yourself before making that incorrect statement up there. Not going to rehash all the 858 stuff and why a new receiver was designed from the ground up for it. Also a video review by TVPP if you want to see it before totally trashing it.

There's a thread about a broken bolt in a VZ58 just below this one (March 2015). Go check it out.

I don't own either a CZ or CSA so I really don't have a dog in the fight. I'll buy a 958 if they indeed come out, as my 858 was mint and I expect the 958 to also be up to the QC and proper legal specs.

Ok....maybe I've had a few whiskeys......but....**** * ** ** *****.......I keep watching these threads because I want one!
Wantin it and wantin it and wantin it !!!
Thanks for the reports though
