Do I get to take it home, right then and there? I understand having to get your LTATT set up, but what happens to get the pistol from the store to my house and how long does that usually take? Is this what I see refered to as the STATT? how do these differ from an ATT?

Sorry, i'm sure this has been asked before but you would not believe how many threads have the letters ATT in them...

The vendor will usually get you the ATT to bring the gun home from the store. Until that document is available, the gun stays at the store. It's valid for that purpose only.

After that the gun stays at your home until you get your LTATT to bring it to the range.

Did you get your restricted RPAL license and course? They should have covered the Transfer & registration at some point.. How about where you purchased the gun ..

Just curious???

The RPAL course doesnt really adress the topic in much detail as it relates to the purchase and taking possesion of a restricted, more the transport rules in general. And I havent purchased yet! Just like to have an idea of what to expect!

When I bought mine at Cabela's in Winnipeg the info was transmitted to the CFO on the evening of Thursday and completed by the CFO in the morning. When I contacted the CFO they issued the STATT over the phone with the time constraints that go with it. They also issued the LTATT at the same time and emailed it and the STATT in PDF for me to printout. It was so easy that I had to wonder if anything was missing.

OP probably won't be that lucky living in BC, living in the prairies we do get treated a little better

I bought mine at my LGS. The TATT and registration took two days to come in, at which point I got to take my pistol home. I'm now waiting for my ATT to come in. The LGS/ my home range applied for me, stating that it would take 3-6 weeks. I'm in Ontario. I now own a very expensive paperweight until it shows up.

Dude, I was on this site for like a year and did not even know how to complete a non-restricted rifle transfer hahaha.

We learn #### all in that program.

The fact that you live in BC be prepared to wait for your long term ATT. My buddy sent his paperwork in on the first of November and still does not have his. No he has done nothing wrong he is just renewing it. When he phones him they say they have received it and all is ok but they are backed up and don't know when they are going to get to it.

Just drive to the office in surrey, after your dealer does the paperwork, and you are a registered member in good standing of a range. I bought and picked up my CZ75 the same day, had my STATT and LTATT in 10 minutes. They are super nice at the office.

Yeah, when the time comes that's what I'll do as well. Great excuse for a drive!

Just remember to lock your doors as soon as you get near Surrey, and assume your car will be stolen.

What about the registration itself? If I ordered a restricted weapon online and it is coming by mail to me, will the vendor already have it registered for me? Or do I need to sign some sort of registration document? I've only got non-restricted guns so I haven't had to register a firearm before.

If it was from a dealer then they do it all for you based on what you gave them for your information.

If it was a private seller then they would have contacted the CFO and started the transfer by giving them THEIR information only along with your RPAL number. The CFO gives them a reference number which the seller passes along to you. You then contact the CFO to complete the transfer. They'll ask for the reference number and then ask a bunch of questions that confirms you are who you say you are. Once that's all done it goes for approval and the transfer notice is sent to both parties. At that point the seller will obtain a STATT to take the gun to the post office or the STATT may come with the tranfer notice.

My registration came in the mail a couple weeks after I bought mine, direct from the RCMP.

Just took 8 days for the bc cfo to transfer my new m&p9 to me. still waiting for reg. card in mail. As for LTATT if its been more than
3 weeks call to see if all info is there. My Buddy just called them and got put throw to the alberta cfo, they are helping bc, alberta cfo had it e-mailed to him in 3 hours.

Ok so if the dealer is doing the registration for me and I receive the gun by mail, can I still take it to the range and fire it even though I don't yet have the registration papers from the RCMP? In other words, is it safe to assume that it is registered technically by the time I physically receive the handgun?
