I'm starting to read about all of these games/matches/events relating with firearms and they all sound great. What I was wondering was which of them would be the best for practice with a future career in policing in mind. My first thoughts was IDPA.

Also, I like to collect/shoot WWII era rifles. I currently own an Enfield and a Mosin Nagant. Any events that would accomodate that around the Waterloo Region?

Some may disagree but my personal opinion is IPSC.
You never get the same course, you have to move,
think and aim at the same time with a pulse rate at
140........... no better rush that I can think of. Not
to belittle any of the other disciplines, all shooting
sports are great!

Take a report writing course. Every Cop I know gets a million time more use from their pens/laptop then their guns.

I'm well aware of that enshooter. I am quite prepared for that as well. I just want something more exciting to do than shooting at a black circle on a plain target. I thought one of these games would be just up my alley.

Maxable, why not try a few of them out? IDPA, IPSC and a host of others.
I would personally recomend IDPA but, any safe trigger time with any of the sports can be rewarding.

Why not drop by EESA this weekend to watch the IPSC match we are holding..

Some top shooters will be there to AMAZE you.

We are only a bit over an hour from you.

Tactical issues aside, I think IPSC teaches the best overall gun handling skills. IPSC shooters have to be able to adapt to just about any type of shooting challenge in competition, and the nature of the sport also necessitates a great deal of lateral thinking.

So it looks like I should take up both. I would love that.

And thanks for the invite stormbringer, but I have some testing to do this weekend for my police app. I will try to get out to another match sometime for sure.

Sorry Maxable
My comment should have read shooting is fun hobby. Police work is just that work. Police traing will keep you alive in the streets, shoot like we do is why people go to work to pay for it.
