any clues? i'll be emailing wolvering for a replacement after this...but if anybody has seen this before... i would appreciate any insights.

no binding, no friction marks, everything on tight.

Allan!

Thats one I've never even heard of. Usually its the lower that breaks on these guns. Looks like the rod wasn't properly hardened or else it wouldn't have bent.
What ammo where you shooting?

It looks like you are missing a section of the op rod unless it just isn't in the pic.
I have used and seen LOTS of Ar-18's and Ar-180/180B's and I have never seen that before.

I wonder if the middle section(Op rod link part#14) was missing, if the rearmost tip of the op-rod was hitting the face of the receiver and causing it to bind then bend?

is there an online parts fiche that i can look at to see what you're talking about?

i went to armalite but the fiche is horribly small and i can't find my owners manual >_<

and yes. wtf. my rifle didn't come with that part!? i was very careful and thorough and clean when installing stuff.

i think i'm missing #14

and i'm a mechanic by trade so i know how to dismantle and reinstall things.

=(

edit: unless it's in the car.. i had the rod out when i was driving home. ...but i don't remember that part at all

The first thing I thought when I saw the title was "on no I wonder if armedsask still has his face"

but then I noticed someone else started it :D

Unless you find #14 in your car seat or whatever, it seems pretty clear what the problem was.

I won't be selling my 180b anytime soon (truth be told I do like my AR's better though)

Good to know what not to do, thanks for the post.
