So, my Binoculars grew some legs....

Under the CZBB Flight Path.....
Long story short I misplaced my binoculars and can not find them.
They where a pair on Minox 8x40's with German made glass and served me well for 5 or 6 yrs of light duty use.
I have used them for watching concerts, watching ducks from a blind those Willey grouse hiding in some thick cover to deer hunting and seeing if that deer at 125 yrds is a buck or a doe they have served me well.
I have not had any luck finding them in store locally so, what is everyone using in this power range ?
Recommendation or criticisms welcome.

I would recommend Pentax. Although the optical quality is very good, I've had plactic bits on the outside fall off of them that really shouldn't as I don't own a quad. (2 yrs)

If I were you I would look hard at Stiener Predators. I do believe the USMC issues Stiener brand overseaas.

Vortex get a bad rep but my Razors have lasted years with issues from abuse showing now. I plan to send in for warranty and to be honest you can’t beat that! I may change my tune if the warranty is denied but I here is is very good. Also no issues with fogging or the glass.

Just my 2 cents.
 
I’ve got a set of 10x42 Steiner Predators and they are awesome. I went in initially thinking I was going to buy Vortex, looked through several models and the Predators were far superior in clarity hands down.

Many CT stores carry this brand as well.
If I didn't just have my garage reshingled I would have brand new Predators under my roof.

For now I just carry my Lieca rangefinder instead.
 
A good Minox is hard to beat, but the higher Leopold (MX series) are very nice. Great clarity, tidy sizes, and priced well.
I also have a set of MEC from years ago 8x40 as made by Pentax that are a wonderful binocular for the then price, so a quality Pentax also has my vote.
 
I guess I will join the kudos for Pentax - for at least 10 years has been my bino's to use - Pentax 8x40 PCF WP. Greatest advantage is that I can see well through them. My brother has similar aged Leica - 10x50, I think - likely better resolution, but not much good to me - I simply can not hold the thing still enough to see - have to grab brim of ball cap to steady them. It sucks to get old and shaky!!! I started to leave the Pentax at home when I got Leupold "Wind River" RB800 - so 8x32 - but include a Class 1 laser rangefinder within. Works fine for me, to the extent I prefer it for most uses, than the Pentax. If like me - is absolutely amazing to discover why to wear and use binoculars when hunting in the bush - you are NOT seeing even 50% of what is there...
 
I bought Nikon Monarch 7 8x30's this spring and absolutely love them. Lightweight and crystal clear. The (Ontario) distances I'm interested in are likely shorter than those a person in BC wants to glass.
 
I have cheaper Bushnell binos in 10x42 which are alright but not great, I think they're Trophy line so like $120 or so. I also have Leupold BX4 in 8x42 which are much better but like 5x the cost and to be honest, I treat them like they're 5x the cost too so they don't get the crap kicked out of them.

Lately I've been just carrying my rangefinder for light and fast stuff where I need to range things anyways with its 5x power, and kicking the crap out of the Bushy binos when needed.
 
Be a little careful if you're thinking of Nikon. Check to see if they're still honoring the warranty.

You know, I just had a brain fart ....
While shooting chickens this past week I was using the Leupold rf to do this.
I never put two and two together as I was annoyed at the mia Minox.

Yeah, I probably wouldn't use my Leupold RX1400 to glass on a guided trophy hunt but a 5x rangefinder with decent albeit small glass is better than cheap 8x compact binos for sure.
 
Ive been a vortex guy for awhile, but the cross fire in 10x42 while has served me well, i found I couldn’t quite see the bush at distance if that makes sense so today pulled the trigger on a pair of leupold 10x42 bx4 proguide HD, more then im used to spending, but wow. What a difference in clarity.

I own a Vortex Fury (the old model without the rangefinder)
it happened to be great glass for the money
at 6 or 7 year mark the collimation between the barrels went bad but warranty took care of it
later the front (magnesium I think) inter-barrel-knob got lost while cruising the woods
Vortex sent me a new one: plastic

what can I say? nowadays polyurethane coating seem to turn to sticky goo after a while.

From Nikon Canada website: lifetime warranty on binocular optical components, 7 years on non-optical components. It is not, however, a no-fault warranty. Not sure why the caution about Nikon(?)
 
Long time fan of Pentax and Nikon binos for hunting ... with the nod going to Nikon Monarchs for me. I think they are like a version 5 or something like that now.

However, I have moved to Athlon with the ED glass. Wow, definitely a step up for similar money.

I do alot of LR glassing for shooting and spotting.

I use a Pentax DCF I think it is. Would have to look at it. Must be 15 years old. Has a few nicks and scratches but still are awesome. No problems, don’t fog easily, clear, bright, and easy on the eyes. I would have to look at the New Pentax binoculars if I had to replace this one.
 
London, the warning prob was based on Nikon going out of Riflescopes. Their scope warranty transfers to replacing with binocs.
NOTE - Cabelas has some Nikon binocs on Sale right now - http s://www.cabelas.ca/product/90342/nikon-prostaff-3s-binoculars , as well as some other brands at various price points.
 
Back in the wee years ol maw yews'd tuh run a string thru me arms sleeves and ty me mitts so they'd dangle jest below me tumbs.
Maybe ahh bino braw would worky mawr bettermint then leaf'in them awn the rear bumper............?.........................:onCrack:
