what the hell does that mean and can they reject me from getting a license?

I think they may have been talking about the time that I was WRONGFULLY accused of assaulting someone. I was never formally charged with this. When I showed up for court they all of a sudden didn't even have my name on the board. I did get finger printed. Does this mean I might not get a license because of a police officers stupidity of accusing me for something I didn't do? i've never been charged with anything at all. What kind of things will make it so that they wont' give me a license at all? I already have a membership at a gun club, paid for training etc. that would really suck if they don't give it to me!!

edit: Oh and one my buddy and I were smoking some pot and the police showed up and took it all from us (about $20 worth). Does that matter?

Usually this accompanies an arrest.

Go to the agency that attended your incident and apply for your police record. Similar for folks that are working with kids etc, this will let you know if you were charged, acquitted, dismissed. Whatever the outcome you can submit this to the CFC as proof of your record or of no record.I believe that after the 3rd year, conditional discharges are purged from the RCMP system.
 
You need to call them back and find out exactly why they refused your application. Then you can start doing whatever you need to do to remedy the situation, if anything is even possible.

I got refused on my first PAL and they didn't tell me.It was because of a RCMP cluster f**k. Some one with the same last and first name as me, but not middle name from Nelson BC got into trouble in Whitecourt AB. The RCMP needed more info a, Social insurance number, so they phoned the RCMP in Fort Nelson BC where I was living at the time. My name got flagged so when I applied I was refused. It took me two years to find out about this, I still had a valid POL and thats probably why the RCMP did not kick my door down. It was not fun getting it straightened out. As far as the 2 year wait every time I phoned the CFC i was told in is been processed. I finally got mad and demanded to talk to a supperviser and was told I was denied and why. I since found out that 60% of the people that are denied are because of police mistakes. Welcome to the strange weird world of goverment.
 
Perhaps check with your references to see what questions they were asked and if anyone said anything that could have been jeopardizing?

There is probably something in your FIP file.

Life Memberships: NRA, GOA, CSSA, NFA, OFAH
CCW Permits: Utah, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Maine
 
It was probably a case where they called one of your references and they said bad things of you.... the drug charge isnt good though, not good at all.

I think your F-ked buddy.
 
I guess your "known to police" ooooooooooooooooooo SCARY!

Unless you were charged i think getting busted for few joints is no biggie. weren't most of us here busted when we were kids for drinking/smoking.

Stuff like assault is what they are probably concerned with. If you were arrested in relation to assault that propably raises red flags even though you were never charged. I would look into the status of that.

Possible assault charge and drug user.
Maybe the system does work?

If it's just a misunderstanding, I hope it gets cleared up for you though...

Calling the RCMP or police in the area where your incident(s) occurred is not recommended, as you may not get any answers over the phone. Ideally, go get a Criminal Record Check (CRC) done from the local police serving your area. Once you have obtained your CRC, you'll be able to determine fact from fiction. If all boxes on your CRC (from 1 to 4) are marked negative, then the system does not have anything on you. It's then time to determine what your references said. CFOs and the CFC will not approve anyone with a history of "crimes against a person," and this is for valid reasons. If you do have any box (1 to 4) marked as "may," you'll have to go through fingerprinting to obtain confirmation of any criminal conviction and this may take 4-6 weeks in all. With any conviction recorded against a person, the only way to remove this record is to apply for a pardon. Oh, yes, with any government application denied - as others have already related - you can ask for the decision to be made in writing and request information on any possible appeal procedure.
