so now that the hunting season is over.... now what do we do?

I plan on getting a good rifle, throwing a good scope on it and getting it zeroed over winter.

Hunting is never over... grouse, rabbits, and ducks are still open. With this warm weather in Southern Ontario the bird hunting is great. And when the snow finally comes coyotes and jack rabbits will become the focus of the die hard hunters.
Turkey hunting is in the spring... but it is never too early to scout for them.

start by getting ready for next season.remember all those things you wished you had this year.well go out and get them now

Well I agree with Bigredd, you can still hunt rabbits, coyotes, waterfowl and if it ever gets cold enough maybe even alittle or alot of ice fishing. Next thing you know it will be april and what comes then gobble gobble gobble.

My season is still going... I have a cow elk tag valid for Dec. 25 - Feb. 21. Plus I'd like to try a little harder for coyotes this winter.

HUnting season never closes. You are either in Hunting season , or getting ready for the next one! :D :dancingbanana:

And yes, I do have a problem, just ask my beloved wife.

I already have two new rifles to play with this winter. One is off to the Smith for a bedding job, the other awaits rings and an optic.

Then I get to figure loads for them.

In between that I am sure Nugget and I will be putting the hurt to the coyote's up at home. Can you say 55gr 6mm at 4000fps!:p

That should keep me busy!

Merry Christmas guys!

Noel

Well, so far I've armacoated a rifle and two synthetic stocks, swapped a few optics around, loaded a few thousand rounds of various calibers, re-finished a couple wooden stocks, bought a couple new guns, cleaned and organized the gun room, worked up a few new loads....

Running out of things to do here

Learn to shoot better? All hunters should belong to a local rifle range, buy a yearly membership and shoot! If you want to be a better shot, then shoot more.
Go to the range at least once a month.
I have faced the "Once a year shooter" at the range and when I asked why he had a "Day pass" and not a membership was told that "I only shoot twice a year, why should I buy a membership?" His targets were why, 5" group at 100,!!!
I then asked him if he likes having the range here to which he replied, "Well ya", I asked him if he wanted the range here in three years. He replied "Of course", then buy a membership or it won't be. Ranges need money to be there. The $40.00 we get every year from you, $20.00 per visit means next to nothing. Membership to our range is $120.00 per year or $10.00 a month. If you can't afford that then you can't afford to shoot.

Rant mode off

I've always wanted to go after coyotes and I have a Johnny Stewart caller on the way as well as a 10FP in .223 and I can hardly wait.:dancingbanana: A farmer I know has around 6 that hang out with his cattle just waiting for me to get out there.

well how many of you have said this over and over the last few years at camp...... "well for next years hunt i will.......blah blah blah"..
we talk up a storm in the camp.... then do crap to get er done as they say

BBQ'd rotiserie rabbit..uuuummm
I'm always out'n about keeping tabs on the turkey flocks.
Stayin' city bound drives me nutz...gotta run the bush at least once a week!

It's always a good time to sharpen the knives, oil the guns, and wax the boots! Because if you actually get around to doing all that - i guarantee you someone'll call with a surprise last minute hunting opportunity and you'll be messying 'em right up again anyway :D
