so whats the best way to try to remove this thing???!

If you can get the decapping pin out, which it looks like you can, just put a screw driver in from the top and put it in a vice and give it some whacks.

Welcome to the world of stuck cases.

Did you not lube them?

If you can get the decapping pin out, which it looks like you can,

Pull out the primer remover and with a piece of brass rod or small sized punch, drive the casing out.

Gentlemen. You will not be able to remove the primer/expander. The neck of the case is at its smallest dimension as it is inserted fully into the die. The job of the expander is to expand the neck, which it cannot do while inserted in the die.

Buy a stuck case remover. Or, if you have a 1/4" tap and the appropriate sized drill bit, you can make your own.

Not hard to tell who has actually had a stuck case before.....

.Ben,
As you know, the decapping rod won`t come out of the top of the die, because the expander ball wont fit through the neck of the case. If you start beating on the decapping pin you will more than likely destroy it. Get a stuck case remover, or if you have a set of thread taps I can tell you how to improvise one. You may as well buy the remover, you`ll need it for the next time.

we were lubing the cases with LEE resizing lubericant these cases seem to be really out of shape however....took alot more force than normal on all of them till a norinco case the rim came off....we did get the decapping pin out breaking it in the process the next step will be to try to put a rod down into there and hammer it out if that doesnt work then a new die will be in order....

yup destroyed the pin but got it out..... yes i have a tap and die set how do i improvise?:)....

Drill the flash hole with an undersize bit.

Tap.

Use about a 5/8 socket or whatever you need to clear the case but still rest against the die.

Bolt long enough to reach the case through the socket. Use a washer to stop the bolt from going into the socket.

Tighten bolt, case will pop out.

Question: How do you drill out the flash hole if you can't get the decaping pin/expander out?

alright will attempt and report back....so where can i get a "stuck case remover" for next time>?....

Same place you get the decapping pins. A RCBS stuck case remover is just a collar, drill bit, 1/4" tap and and allen wrench. Just out of curiousity did you wreck the decapping stem, the pin, the expander ball or all three? The idea is to loosen off the decapping rod and move it up in the case to make room to drill it out before you break anything. Then you slip it all out the bottom and do whatever you need to do to get the assembly out of the case. I usually just cut the base of the case with a hacksaw.

It sounds like you have a oversized chamber in the rifle, I've had a few of them. When things are normal, you should be able to size .223 with little more than the weight of your arm on the lever, and pull out just about as easy. It is possible to get a loose chamber tight die combination that will stick the occasional case even if you do everything right. If you feel anything like excess resistance going in, stop and relube the case before you stick it. There's enough crap barrels out there to try your patience, believe me.
