so what goes on for precision and sniper shoots in N.S.

Where would you have such a match? How would you operate the moving target and many more questions that need to be answered.

Before you get everyone spun up on this one I think you should put a lot of thought into it.

Just my 2 cents.

Jake,

Read the post again.

A steel activator and a swinging target stand, like this:

I apologize if I spun you up, and I have put a lot of thought into it and decided you're not invited.

Thanks for your constructive input.

Hello Viper,
Glad to hear you're being so sportspersonlike by not inviting me to the shoot.

I have shot a lot of Precision Rifle (Sniper as it was previously known) in Nova Scotia. I also have organized Provincial Competitions as well.

I am not entirely sure you appreciate my constructive criticism but here goes anyway. You should base the target size and exposure to something other than luck. That swinging target is small and is quick. If the match is not on a proper gallery range how quickly can you reset the target and keep the "butt" party safely behind the firing line.

Trust me, I do love this type of shooting and would love to participate but the problem with long range shooting without a gallery range is that is the target is at a long distance to check.

The moving target will be close enough and slow enough to allow reasonable hits - something we will work out through testing on the range ahead of time. It will actually be an IPSC target on the swinger, not a clay target.

We plan to keep the crowd small (12) for the first shoot because we anticipate delays in scoring. The range layout will allow for scoring by staff on ATVs.

If your first post had better resembled your second, your input would have been welcomed not mocked.

Still want to come? :)

Good day Viper
I do apologize for my first post. You obviously took offense and that was definitely not my intention. Having organized a few matches you start out looking at the big picture and tend to forget the smallest, sometimes important details. That has been my experience.

That is what I hate about text based communication, you don't get any chance to convey a tone or feeling like you can verbally.

I would be interested, keep me posted.

viper7,

Sounds like you have more than enough participants but let me know if you need another. A friendly warning, be prepared to host many more of these matches.

Cheers,
Rob

Make that two guys and I have an atv :D
