So what is the deal with Fortner actions?

Well, I made the mistake of browsing through the various Anschutzes on Nordic Marksman's site, and I've become quite intrigued by the Fortner action rifles. Been trying to read up on them, but there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of info.

So, apart from the price, is there any disadvantage to them? I'm assuming they are a bit heavier than the other actions. I'm also assuming they are pretty accurate. Anyone have any first-hand experience with them?

I have a 1416 Annie, which I love (apart from the ejection issues), but I would love to add one of these to my collection.
 
This video will show how fast/smooth the action is and how little movement is required to cycle the action. Very little movement in the sights with this. No bolt action can compete with these.

The only downside is the price. Accuracy is 100% even with the light sporter stocks. I have a 1827F and now a 1727F in 22lr. The action is 30mm in diameter same as the Anschutz 54 actions so no weight penalty. You will be tempted to use match ammo and play on the bench even with the sporter stocks as they are wickedly accurate. Enjoy!

That's good to hear, although not for my pocketbook. That 1827f looks really nice. Any ejection issues?

I'll probably have to sell some guns to make room in the safe, as well as free up some cash. Sigh...

I had minor ejection issues with two model 54s, but a touch up on the extractor with a file cured both.b Other people report similar results with the model 64s.

Thanks, I had ejection issues with a 64 action (replaced the extractor on the 1417), none on the 54 action (1712) and absolutely never on the Fortner actions (x2) They are wickedly good at throwing the brass. I had to do the same with selling some very nice 22lr's to get into the Fortner action but I am happy I did. The others fall short in every way. (Can you tell I am a fan) :) A huge thanks to Nordic Marksman for mine!
