I love combat style shotguns and am disappointed that nobody really likes the valtro pm5. I think it definetly has the lcf and gives you compact firepower. The sights are excellent and the porting gives you some extra muzzle control. I realize that there is a definete disadvantage to switching from slugs to buckshot, etc, so there is a disadvantage for some combat shotgun competitions. The pm5 takes getting used to and the center of balance is way off a conventional tube mag. With practice I can make very quick mag changes and haven't had any feed problems that others have talked about. Now we have the 870. I have used one for years and can operate it with my eyes closed. Loading, unloading etc. I know its not that difficult. I have a couple of defenders and like the look but the little clittoris to release the action is an egornomic disaster. I guess I am too used to 870's. I like the moss. 590's as well but don't shoot it much.

Finally, I have a franchi sas which I never hear about. I bought the flash-hider/spreader which screws up the balance but the lcf is there. Too be fair I never venture into this forrum but love shotguns and would love to become more tactical in the future. The spreader helps to spread your shots out horizontally which I tested in the snow one year. I am not sure if they are hard to get but I never really see or hear of them. They are chrome molly steel, have two safetys, and hold 8 rounds in the tube. The sights are kind of ####ty though.

I bought this gun for $199.00 new from a store which thought it was going to be prohibited but so far so good. I have fired 20 rounds through the gun and I am interested in what it would go for. I has the fixxed stock.

If this is too offtopic I will start a new post.

In conclusion I would recommend trying out the pm5. While not my favourite it has some innovative features for a decent price

Steve.
