So Whats Everyone Lugging for Rifles This Season?

For the first time in years my Remmy 760 will sit in the rack so I can try out the Winchester 100 .308 I got off the EE. For blackpowder I'll be using the same old CVA Eclipse that never fails to fill my tag if I do my part.

For deer during the rifle season this year it will be my newish Marlin 1894SS in 44 mag shooting 240gr Hornady XTPs with 23 grains of H110. A Wiliams peep and firesight combo will help me put the lead in the right spot.

Wow. I'm surprised how many .308's are going out. So far 12 out of 42 people are taking out at least one. And here I thought everyone was hot for their .300's.

Savage 12FVSS .308
T/C Pro Hunter .308, .50 and 375H&H
Marlin 336 30-30
T/C Renegade .54

My son and I will both be toting .308 chambered rifles this year, in our pursuit of the wily whitetail. ;) The boy will be using my tried and true Browning A Bolt Micro Medallion, and a Leupold VXII 2-7X Compact scope. I will be carrying my new-to-me steel receivered Browning BLR with it's Leupold VXII 3-9 Compact scope...both of these rifles sport 20" barrels.

The jury's still out on a load...I'm working on developing something that shoots reasonably well in both rifles - so we can toss one another a cartridge if necessary.

Jeff.

Main rig: Ruger M77 Mk II in .280 Rem. It sits in a aftermarket B&C stock and wears a eiss conquest 3-9x40.
Coyote rig/girlfriends deer gun: Remmy 700 .243 wearing a REdfield revolution and sporting a Krylon camo paint job.

I'm also going to bag Mulie doe with a milsurp of some sort.

300 Savage

Just picked up a 300 Savage Model 99. I haven't shot one since I was 16! Brought it home yesterday and put six into a 4 inch spot from 100yards. Not MOA accurate like some folks like but for a deer hunter in the deep woods this is potent medicine! Great gun which should be in production still.

I had a M700 faux TI built this year in 358Winchester. Just getting some 250Speers going in it now.
Got some pics yesterday ....
