I was on the hunt for a Model Seven with a short barrel with the intent of dropping it into either a McMillan Edge or a Wildcat. Could not find a 308 but got my hands on a 7-08. As much as I want a 308, I wish Remington had a tighter twist on their 30 cal barrels. I do prefer the twist rates on Remington's 7mm barrels. Although there is nothing wrong with the 7-08, and even though I have never fired a shot with the Seven I picked up, I may go with a new barrel cut for 308 with an 8.5" or 9" twist. Or sell it because I have so many projects and usually just carry my 270.
