So what's the concensus on ammo with metal case bullets?

Can't imagine steel or nickle jacket bullets being good for the bore. I wouldn't use a steel bore brush on my guns & that's only doing about 1fps as opposed to 2000fps+ for a bullet.
Just my opinion.
 
I don't think I've ever seen a steel jacketed bullet without copper plating, I've put a number of surplus nickel plated bullets through my lee-enfield however. I'm sure there is some advantage to using a nickel plating on bullets or else they wouldn't have been produced. I'm eager to hear some opinions on it.
