Smith and Wesson 686 6" with 7 shot cylinder.

I had been advised by members of my gun club to cut my teeth on a .22 but I don't regret buying this .38/.357 one bit. It's a nice, solid chunk of steel with great balance and a wonderful feel in the hand.

Most importantly, it's a real tack driver. You don't have to be Wyatt Earp to be accurate with this gun and that's key to building your confidence as a new shooter.

Cheers.

Ruger Mk II - in 1985. 20,000 rounds thru it first 15 years.
Still have it and both my kids cut their shooting teeth on it.
Hasn't seen as much use now that it has competition in the safe.
To be young and poor again.

I think I bought my first three nearly all at the same time, Ruger mark II bb .22, Colt 1991a1 .45 and a Ruger GP100 .357 Mag. Bought a couple of Ruger rifles and a FN Fal too. But sold them all to pay some bills before C68. Now have Rem.1911 .45, S&W M&P .40, CZ 9mm, Makorov .380 (soon i hope) and a Buckmark Camper .22. Also 30.06, 30-30, AR15 .223 Ruger 1022, Savage .22, Mossberg .22 mag, Rem 870 12g.

Just got my first, a Ruger GP-100 in .357 mag. I have no doubt that I'll end up with pistols in 9mm, .40, and .45ACP eventually. Originally figured I'd end up with a .22 or 9mm pistol to start, but I wanted my first handun to be a simple workhorse, something that would shoot forever, let me learn the basics, fill as many roles as possible, and never be sold for something "fancier". Time will tell if I made the right choice, but research suggests I'm on the right track ;)

First of my babies was a old Smith and Wesson Model 17 .22 cal revolver that I proceeded to shoot Bullseye with. It was a tackdriver till I got it reblued and it never shot as well again.Still have it after 20 years.

Got into handguns about a year ago, first one was/is a Sig 226 Classic 22. Just picked up the 9mm calibre x-change for it a month or so ago.

Glock 17

I don't know why but this particular Glock 17 have an sentimental value for me. It's not the best or the more good looking gun, but it was my first gun.
