Browning HP1935 in 1989.

Followed by a Glock 22 .40 1st gen when they first hit the market in 1990. I got the Glock when the OKA crisis was ongoing.

Traded the G22 to my brother when I first got out of the CF for a stereo (I am low. I had a girlfriend and needed the stereo. What I should have done is ditched her and got a G23 to go with the G22)

This last year, she came home to me (the G22. Not the greedy ##### ex-girlfriend). The Glock finish is still beautiful even after 20 years.

Those are the best.

Thanks, the sights aren't the best, but I'll tell you the pistol is so well balanced it damned near shoots bulls by itself....like pointing your finger, and fast! man, for something 100yrs old, no FTF, no FTE as fast as you can pull the trigger 10rds. it did take a while and some help from the Internet to figure out how to strip it though:D

I selected pistol, as the first handgun *I* bought for myself was a Ruger Mk III 22/45. The first real handgun that was mine (not counting pellet pistols) was a Smith and Wesson Snub nosed .357 when I was about 12. My dad bought it for me for PPC, and I used it, but when it becam prohib before i turned 18 :( The old man's still got it, and lets me shoot it once in a while :)

my first handgun

S&W model 39, the first US double/single action, with 8rd 9mm mag in 1967.

It was stolen from our house by a burglar in 1988 and returned to me over 20 years later by RCMP when a widow found it among her deceased husband's effects. It was still in my home-made box, but somebody had tried to fix the terrible trigger and created a full auto pistol. S&W accepted it for warranty repair because I was the original owner and the trigger is now much better than it was when new.

My first handguns were handed down from my father.
T-series Browning HP, S&W 41, S&W 15 Combat Masterpiece.
All three saw minimal rounds and were mint.
Kept the HP(now wears a Pacmayer fingerless). Sold the 41. Couldn't keep the 4" revolver:(

Ruger Mark 1 bull barrel target pistol. It was the US Bicentennial version marked "Made in the 200th year of American Liberty". Like a fool, I sold it because I thought I needed the money at one point [NEVER DO THIS!!! f:P:2:].

I got another one now...:D
