So what's the going rate on Lee Metford/Enfields in 2016?

Like the title says, I am looking for what to expect if I'm looking for a still military dressed Lee Metford or MLE. Obviously I know condition and matching drive up price, but fortunately matching doesn't matter (even a rebuild would be acceptable).

I see people asking on EE for 700ish for the cavalry carbines, but no long rifles at the moment

There is one on trade ex's site right now. I think it's around $1400.

I would say that is a fair price in today's market. MLM and MLE rifles are getting to be quiet rare and I don't think the prices will do anything but go up.

I have a 1900 MLE Mk1* made at Enfield. It's missing the forend wood but otherwise its complete with its front and rear volley sights, magazine cutoff and full length barrel. The bore is in VG shape and I will add it's a great shooter. It's one of my favorite rifles for sure.

I'm glad I scooped it up when I did because it's not often since that I've found one that hasn't been chopped.

There are of course a wide variety of prices, conditions etc. I was able to pick up a reasonable one for $800 in Calgary 2 years ago. Like many things "how much" = "it depends". The more you look the more you are likely to be rewarded with a decent rifle at a reasonable price.

You won't find cavalry carbines for $700. Maybe you are thinking of the No.5 Enfield jungle carbine? Cavalry carbines will run well over $1000, possibly over $2000 if correct and in nice shape.
