So when is NEA going to start to make a complete Swiss Arms rifle?

I'm gunna come right out and say it, I don't think they could do it.....certainly not to the same standards, but I'd be excited to see them try. If they pulled it off, I assume it would be much cheaper.

Not gunna happen though!:rolleyes:
 
I think it is possible for them to do but a swiss arms rifle is a totally different design from an AR so the transition between the two would be a bit difficult depending on the equipment they have

1. It would without a doubt be classified as an AR variant.
2. The upper on a Swiss Arms is registered... so you'd either have to register your AR upper (and stamp a serial no into it), or register your "Swiss" lower.
3. NEA won't be able to do the system justice, at least not yet.

So all you'd do is have an expensive AR lower based on a Swiss Arms lower. It would be restricted, not have many options for aftermarket triggers, and be of lesser quality than the original Swiss ones.
 
I'm no engineer but to my eye a Sig-540 upper isn't terribly complicated. If they can clone an AR I have no doubt they could build a swiss rifle; the question is whether it can be done profitably. I wonder if there may be licensing/ patent issues?

they cant stamp steel, cnc is much easier to set up /thread
 
What would be the point is what I'm wondering. I'm not seeing any advantages of having an AR upper on a SA lower... the charging handle, bolt release and option of a free-float rail?
Even if NEA had the ability to do such a thing, I think it'd be extremely cost prohibitive not to mention likely violate some patents. Not to mention the likelyhood of the whole package being restricted.
 
I was told the patent still exists for swiss arms. I didn't verify it so I'm just taking the word of a CGN'er.

On a related note: IIRC NEA has hinted at the idea of a AR 180b.
 
While the rifle doesn't seem to be too complicated, the engineers at Swissarms put quite some thought into the construction. Without that knowledge I think it's very difficult to duplicate the rifle, not to mention the level of quality.

Just to get the prototypes through the low temperature and dust-tests it took the engineers years and lots of money.

i seriously hope they dont do the ar 180 non restricted! not in the next year at least. my gun budget iz deep in the red! o no! here it goes got me thinking of a nea non restricted sass riffle
