So when is NEA going to start to make a complete Swiss Arms rifle?

Well, an improved AR180b would be a must IMO. Stamped sheet metal upper (as with the 180b, to keep costs down), with picatinny top rail from the factory (welded in place?... well, that would require a steel top rail... maybe use a poly methyl methacrylate composite?), and machined aluminium lower that takes an AR trigger group. Maybe a modified front sight so it can take a standard detachable AR-15 rear sight. Heavy 1 in 7 twist barrel, 18.6" long, 1/2-28 TPI.

Even if it was a little over 1k (maybe $1200 ish), I'd definitely want one.

Thoughts?

Make a survival gun...light, handy, take down, stainless steel, storage IN the buttstock with easy axcess (meaning not having to unscrew it t open it).

Something like a cross between the Springfield M6 Survival rifle and the Savage model 24 would be perfect :)

With all the high dollar pistol caliber carbines comming to market as of late, I've surprised there isn't at least some demand for a QUALITY and AESTHETICALLY PLEASING firearm at a resonable price.

I know it's not a "Black Rifle" as per se, but why not a short barrelled non-restricted bold action design that took 1911 or Glock mags? Make one in .45 ACP and 9x19mm for starters. Bolt actions aren't terribly difficult to design or build. A purpose built action would be an instant "WIN" in my mind. A short bolt throw combined with the pistol mags would make for a nice combination.

A low mount picatinny/Weaver rail would be nice. I wouldn't bother with iron sights to help keep the manufacturing costs down. Iron sights are passe. Red dot sights and low magnification short range optics are where it's at as far as popularity goes.

With a standard length hunting stock, you'd be able to keep the barrel length to somewhere between 9"-12" and still meet the 27" OAL length requirement.

Keep the whole package at +/- $750 and you'd have an instant hit.

hmmm...

I think id rather see them make a .308 AR since they are so open to different barrel lengths.. im sure its an eventuality though.. the next logical step for them.. weather it takes a year or two years.

YES YES YES. Build an AR10!!! Not the recent Armalite AR15 in .308 they call the AR10, but a real AR10 from the 60's in semi-auto only with the cocking lever under the hand rail. Then it's a non-restricted 7.62 Armalite.

This would sell like HOTCAKES both in Canada and in the US where nobody is currently making a proper one right now.

At $2500 these would still sell like mad.

I'm gobsmacked nobody has done this yet... (NEA, Dlask, ATRS... are you hearing me!?!?!?!?!)

I would like to see a gun to replace the lever action 30 30.

Short and handy - carry easily with one hand around the receiver - not fat like a bolt action - slim and streamlined - no handles or rails or trash - stainless - the sort of thing you would take out in the dark. Semi likely - pump maybe - bullpup if possible - two places under or on top of the buttstock for storing extra mags.

You might be willing to spend $2,500 but I sure as Hell am not. I'm sure NEA would make more money having a product that everyone can afford as opposed to the select few who feel it's important to spend tons of money to feel that they're part of the elite few to own one.

Building an AR10 is not going to be as cheap as an AR15 - if you think so you are in la-la land. It would need to be prototyped, the original design reverse engineered. The fibreglass resin hand guards can't be spun off on a six axis. You need specialized equipment to make that stuff = increased cost.

The G-code would need to be written and re-written from scratch. The chroming of internal parts will add $$$

If they can make it cheaper than an RFB, I'd be amazed.

I'd buy one at almost any price though ;)

NR AR-10 would be cool, but the charge handle position blows. Right where you want the optics...annoying.

Would love to see one with a slabside FF rail, though.

I would be interested to see 18.6" factory-type barrels for the SIG carbine. That would be pretty awesome.

Although it would require a careful touch. SIG USA can't seem to get their barrels built properly, for example. And they really OUGHT to be able to figure it out.

And yet...they evidently can't.

I think that until you get it classed non-restricted, you'd want to duplicate the original exactly before getting fancy and turning into a restricted AR ;)
