So? Where are all the Ruger SR556 reviews?

played with one at the range yesterday... VERY front heavy... then again, everything feels heavy compared to my PWS... hehe
Yeah, a PWS is on my dream list.
The only thing LMT has over the PWS is ease of switching barrels. Then again PWS has nitrided barrels which should last longer than chrome so 1 new pws upper is likely less expensive than 2 LMT barrels!!!
Regarding the Ruger, the few reviews I read said they were reliable.

The rifle has been out for about a month now. Nobody got one yet to post a review? I would be tempted to buy one if I had the $$ kicking around.
I've actually decided to pick up the SR-556E model. Approx. 1lb lighter than the original SR-556, but minus the chrome lined barrel and a few other items. Costs about $500 less.
Well, when I do get it, I hope to put up my own review or at least just my thoughts on the AR (even though I don't have a lot of experience with AR's).
Well, looks like the reviews will go unanswered for a while longer. I went and was ready to buy the Ruger, but after holding it, I didn't like the feel. It wasn't the material I didn't like, or at least I didn't think it was, but it just didn't sit right on the shoulder so I decided not to get it.
Bummer. Was it the front heavy bit that got to you? One sponsor was selling Sig 516 at pretty much the same price as the SR556. Another rifle I've never personally handled that I'd be interested in.
Just spend the extra coin and get the PWS
I own 2 of them and they are amazing. My Mk109 (9.75 inch 300 Blackout) has only had failures during load development when I was figuring out which powder to use for mid and heavy projectiles and my Mk112 (12 inch .223) has been 100% other than when my buddy failed to seat the mag correctly.
Very light for a piston gun and easy to clean.
PWS claims the isonite treating process will give the barrel 30000+ rounds of accurate service life and my Mk112 will out shoot my Swiss Arms classic green target with 55gr American Eagle (black box).
If you get the Ruger be sure to post a detailed review.

Yes, the rifle was a little front heavy, but overall was generally lighter than I expected. If you put edge of your hand where the magwell & rail meet, it will tip towards the front. I don't think it was the fact that it was front heavy that got to me as my friend's AR is almost 10lbs and is also front heavy, but it sat on my shoulder well, if that makes any sense. I wish they had a SIG in stock as that was another on my list of piston AR's.
Cr5, was gonna look at a PWS, but I don't know if I want to spend $2300 for my 1st AR. It's light and build quality is good, but was considering something cheaper and then work up to something better.
If you plan to upgrade later then I would just go DI for now and with a light profile barrel you will have a very light and reliable rifle. Then when your ready step up and get the PWS.
The best part about the PWS and why I own them and not other brands is that it was designed as a piston rifle. It doesn't suffer from carrier tilt or any of the other negatives that come with the afterthought piston kits. My Mk112 has well over 3000 rounds through it without failure and other than a quick clean and a little lube it gets no special treatment, the inside still looks almost like new.
