So who bought the SFP9?

I didn't see anyone else ask, but for PPQ owners, how does this compare? Trigger wise, fit and finish, pointability, etc....

Let me preface by saying that the SFP9 trigger is fantastic; especially for a striker-fired pistol. That said, the PPQ's trigger is noticeably better, although only slightly. But make no mistake, it is better than the SFP9/VP9 in every aspect. The PPQ has less overall travel, crisper break and about half of the reset travel of the SFP9. Now to be clear , this is most noticeable during dry firing and particularly when switching from one to the other for the sake of comparison. On the firing line, taking actual shots, I am hard pressed to tell the difference between the two but a slight edge has to go to the PPQ if we are just talking about the trigger alone.

Overall, at least in my assessment, the SFP9 is a better pistol. I like the fit and feel of the gun better than the PPQ, particularly what HK did with the slide release lever. The gun just fits my hand and my shooting style better than the PPQ. But that is pretty subjective. I'm sure there are many shooters that would have the opposite opinion.

The fit and finish of both pistols is very good but again, there is just something about the SFP9 that I like better. It's hard for me to quantify properly, but When I grip the PPQ I always feel like my hand is hanging over the bottom of the grip even though it is not. Thew grip just feels oddly short to me. It is definitley not too short for me, it just feels that way and i'm not really sure why....

Both are great guns and both will have die-hard fanatics and haters I'm sure. But for me, the SPF9/VP9 is my platform of choice. The PPQ with 6 mags, Raven Concealment holster an mag pouch will be hitting the EE in the next couple of days.

New to the forum , just waiting for the Upgrade to restricted PAL and this little beauty will be mine . It was love at first hold and cant wait to order it up.

Large back strap and side panels for me. It's the best feeling and most naturally pointing handgun I've ever held. Even better if you're a lefty (like me) as the controls are perfect. Love this pistol.

I still like glocks more. This panels don't have enough grip for me. I got the gun and 5 mags now, havnt shot it yet, but will prob sell it soon.

The SFP9's grips have outstanding traction. More so than my CZ P09 or any of the Gen 3 or 4 Glocks I've ever owned.

You know what fellas? I think i will retract my previous statement in this thread about wanting one. I handled one earlier this week thanks to a range member. Didn't fire it though because i felt it disrepectful firing a brand new gun. It's hard for me to explain. Kind of like that episode on top gear uk when they drove 3 budget supercars through spain. While they all felt the audi r8 was the best car of the 3, they all agreed that they would still buy the ferrari 458. I feel the same about the sfp9. Great gun for sure and beats the glock 17 out of the box in my opinion, BUT i still prefer my glock 19. And i kind of agree that the gen 4 glocks offer more traction than the sfp9.

Soo just took delivery of my SoCal SFP9 holster, outstanding quality & fit and finish, very happy with the product & service, CP were dragging there feet and Tim gave me a shout to see what was going on. The G Code hanger system is very cool and functional, certainly worth the coin IMO. I'll be getting some more holsters for sure, Thanks SoCal!!! Keep up the Good Work!!

Anyone watched the vp9 torure test from military arms channel from YouTube? I have bought a sfp9 and felt a bit depress after watching the test.

And why is that? Do you plan to drop your pistol in the mud, throw it up in the air and against a metal target? If not, then you have nothing to worry about.

True. But I am a bit disappointed in the water test which is the very first test. I believe the ppq navy perform better while at similar price range.

I agree that the rest of the test is quite meaningless.

HK PRO has a guy doing water tests and his VP9 fired just fine....

Rich

Perhaps it only malfunctions in heavy water? :)

I recall one of the paddle magazine release levers broke off during the "torture test", but there is a second one that works. A compromised button magazine release would be a bigger problem.

The PPQ Navy model has a hole in the striker mechanism, suppose this makes a big difference when firing submerged and allows quick drainage.

Does anyone else who picked up this pistol find that the tip of their index finger is rubbing on the bottom of the trigger guard? I have tried adjusting my grip/finger position but it always creeps back down and is driving me nuts.

Also, can anyone who also owns a P30 comment on if the trigger guard on it is the same? I know it has a different trigger.

I guarantee if i throw my tanfoglios at a steel popper...i am gonna break something. Likely a sight or safety...that is a stupid test. The water test is interesting. The next time i am doing buds training i will keep that in mind. Lol. (Sarcasm is my second language)
