So who else loves hunting with the .44 mag?

:D

I must have had my head under a rock! For years in Alberta we had a "minimum of 23 caliber and ### case length" that did not allow 44 Mag for big game hunting. Reading this thread caused me to google the 2009 hunting regs and now it only reads 23 caliber minimum!

Going 44 mag shopping tonight!

I have no use for the under powered 44mag I'll take a truely awesome performer like a 45 Colt or 454 Casull over it any day... :D

I started out with a Win '92 rifle in 44-40 ... and converted it to 44 Mag. Through later years, acquired a ( 1st generation ) Ruger carbine, a Marlin 1894 and a S&W Mod. 29 in 8-3/8". Deer, bear & moose, all under a 100 yards ... no sweat !

Since moving to "farm" country and less dense cover for deer, it's now more 257 Roberts & 25-06. The 35 Whelen has taken over for moose.
