So who has a trapper?

I've got a Trapper in .45 Colt set up with a Williams peep sight. I ended up using it on a bear about a week ago, a 260 lb black bear sow. Having never shot anything with a 300 grain cast bullet at 1600 fps I was mighty impressed with how it flattened that bear!

Had a few of these over the years. 44Mag and 3030's. Here's mine - currently for sale in the EE forums...:(

I know I've posted pics of these before and they're both Marlins not Winchesters I consider the three of them as trapper models. First is the Marlin LTD in 44mag and then there is the pair of Marlin SDTs in 45/70. Some day I hope to find an older Winchester trapper to add to the collection, just don't tell my wife. LOL. Jim

Bittermansbro - great looking collection!

That 1892 trapper sure looks in pretty good shape - most specimens are beat up and rusted from hard use in nasty weather. What's its barrel length as the factory made various lengths I understand?

All those LL trappers usually have nicely figured wood too.

Thanks Whelen, its actually the wife's Trapper. Its a 16in barrel factory, I bought it for her a number of years ago out of an estate in NS, darn fine shape. They came from factory in 16 in and 14 in (the collector named 'Baby Trapper') But you could get them in any length you so desired by order from the factory, I have seen examples in Madis' book of 28in rifles all the way down to a 12(?) that belonged to a chap who helped build the railway in the rockies. Saw that little guy at the Calgary Easter gun show earlier this year.

I have 2 one 44mag Trapper AE and one 357 mag Trapper AE both with the saddle ring brand new never got them out of their box... After Winchester stop doing them i realise that they took quite a jump in value so they will stay in their box... JP.
