SO who ordered a Dominion Arms 870 Grizzly

Man, you guys are killin' me..........i was reading all the posts a minute ago then i had to order one. I was back and forth about one , but hell i guess i might as well get one while they still have them......order sent canada ammo . Did anyone order online through website as i did ? Was everything okay ?

load1up, I ordered online. I was intially hesitant, but I called Chris (CanAm) and he assured me it was secure. Bing-Bang-Boom, new 12.5" bangstick headed my way as soon as the order is processed.

Cheers
Jay
P.S. SO friggen excited...

mbp, I do not own a single tactical looking gun or one with a smiley face, but I have friends that do just because...well just because. They enjoy their stuff and think it's cool. and it is legal so no further justification required. period. I must speak against an opinion that suggusts that to do so is not thinking right...or suggests we think about it....why???:confused:Maybe we might end up in court and it might look bad?? I have many guns and not one is kept to defend myself. Not one was chosen because it might look better in court. They are all kept for my enjoyment and pleasure. That is not to say that I might use one if I have to. Then again, I might use my BBQ fork or I might throw some of my left over meat loaf. To suggest what a legally owned gun looks like?..in case one should end up in court?...seems a little anti to me, or too concerned with ending up in court? You are the one who took this thread off track. eh?

This is my first ever shotgun. Does this one come with a pistol grip or just the full size stock ? Can you shoot slugs through this gun ? Maybe just not as accurate as a rifled barrel right ?

why is it that almost any time someone shows some common sense they are labeled as an 'anti' attitude? the last time i said that i try not to make a big show of carrying my guns in and out of my house to my car, someone called me an anti. was that you? :jerkit:

you might want to actually read my entire post instead of skimming and twisting my words. i said nothing about what type of guns people should own - i explained my opinion as to why i will never put something like that on my own guns, and why people should consider that short shotguns like this that may one day be used in a home or wildlife defense scenario be kept all business.

unfortunately we live in a country of strict gun laws and widespread anti-gun and gun owner sentiment. the day may come when your gun(s) come under heavy scrutiny, and it could be due to no fault or action of your own. i prefer to actually consider the possible consequences of my actions. i liken it to putting a bumper sticker on your car that says 'Im not an Alcoholic, IM A DRUNK, Alcoholics go to Meetings'. just pray if you get into an accident with something that monumentally stupid on your car that you have 0.00% blood alcohol or a lawyer will have a field day with the judge/jury.

and yes, unfortunately although i have been a law-abiding citizen for my entire life, and observe safe storage, transport, hunting and gun handling regulations with meticulous care, i am concerned with ending up in court. you can thank the liberals for that.

yes it comes with both the pistol grip and the full stock. the pistol grip looks like this:

you could shoot slugs through them, although if you do shoot foster style slugs often you may want to get the barrel choked and try an IC or modified. i think these come cylinder bore which is less than ideal for slug accuracy (at least based on the guns that ive owned).

On my range trip, I was consistently high and to the right about 6" at 20 yds with reduced recoil slugs. I'm thinking of getting the barrel threaded for chokes...does anyone with more experience than I know if the barrel is thick enough to do this?

all i can say is if you shoot a home invader with a gun like this ^, good luck in court.

mbp, Is this the type of gun you meant when you said "but you could just as easily do that by using something that looks less like you are chomping at the bit to shoot someone and more like a common hunting tool"

What part of this legal firearm looks like something you would be chomping at the bit to shoot someone with? Is it the barrel? sling? side saddle? lights? synthetic stock? what? Would it be better if one took off the lights, sling saddle etc. and replaced the synthetic stock with wood? Then it would look a lot more like your gun:p But wait,,,,, your barrel is short and some idiot could say that it still looks like a sawed off shotgun, and that it looks like you are chomping at the bit to shoot someone with. :yingyang:

To be concerned with putting a :) on the mag cap?

You seem very judgemental:D

BTW I am not the guy that called you an anti for moving your guns in broad daylight so you can :jerkit: I also would not congratulate yourself on having too much common sense. Like I said before, it comes accross as being judgemental!

I like your gun! I have one almost like it, but it has a slightly longer barrel and is a real Remington:)

Then you should point low and to the left;) Was that from a rest or a benched shot or offhand? 6 inches high? That may not be all that bad, especaily with such a shortie. If you are right handed, high and right often happens, especially with a heavy trigger and expectation of the big boom! I have seen some using the longer tactical guns not get much better with slugs especially with a gun without a rifle type sight. Remember that this gun was not designed as a hunting gun, but it is a defensive gun. Made for short range work. Make that very short range! Griz or Zombies! Cylinder bore is the best for both buck and slugs. It is more of a point n shoot or a pray and spray type gun. I do not know if there is enough meat to install tubes but I know that there is no quarantee that accuracy will improve, and that cost will cancel most of the bargain that you got on the gun.

i havent tried mine with slugs - when i shot it the stores were closed and i only had bulk target loads, buckshot and a couple boxes of brenneke golds which i didnt want to waste plinking.
are you sure its not a cheek weld problem? someone else had an issue with the same thing with an 8.5" dlask and it was solved when he paid more attention to consistent cheek weld. perhaps misalignments in sighting might be further exaggerated by the shorter sight plane of the 12.5" barrel?

dont go rush out and get it choked, IMO. look at it this way: the gun was $300. to get it threaded for chokes youre looking at around ~$100, plus $50 for a couple chokes, plus time wasted driving back and forth and waiting for your gun. thats over half the cost of the gun.
canam said he was planning on ordering the next batch of these with choked barrels... if by then you decide you really want the chokes what better motivation than to buy a new gun :)

i will try to get out this week with a couple bulk boxes of foster slugs and let ya know how mine fares.

I know the 14" Norincos can be threaded for chokes so I would think these would have enough metal as well.
However you should shoot about 200 slugs to get a hang of the gun before you do anything. Shooting high is very common for new shotgunners with a bead sight. A cylinder bore bead sight shotgun should be capable of good accuracy but the short barrelled guns you need to be more careful with your sight picture...get the bead right down onto the receiver and right in the middle of the receiver top. Be careful not to cant the gun at all. Firm hold and 'squeeze' the trigger DO NOT YANK it as some recommend.

At 25m with the bead sight I can put three rounds offhand into 2" with my 8.5" 870. The 12.5" barrels are easier to shoot accurately than the 8.5s.

Hope that helps, I plan to put open sights on mine whne I get it, I just like open sights on my shotguns....faster sight picture for me.

Cheers

Oh what the hay...these 12.5s are crying to be mounted on an AR...old school. "I ain't got time to bleed."

Just wondering - has anyone else got theirs - outside of the original five that were shipped?

Edit: Oh yeah" Well have you got time to duck?" Jessie the Body for Vice President! (Al Bundy for Prez!)

I stooped by today to take a look at one. he had a pile of boxes at the front door waiting to go out, and said he's already shipped a bunch.

still has lots of orders to get ready. but a man can only work so much in a day! be patient and you'll get them soon.
