It's a Gunnutz-type rifle so I had to take a shot here.

In December of 1971, my Dad strolled into Hunters Sporting Goods in Vancouver and picked up a used Model 70 in 375 H&H for the tidy sum of $275 which included a Williams Aperture Sight. The serial number in his notes (if you've seen the thread with his custom 7mm you know how the man kept notes) is 4800XX. I reading through "The Rifleman's Rifle" it would appear that the rifle was built in 1960. And if I'm reading the table correctly the 375 H&H was only offered as an "Alaskan" in 60, the Super Grade and Standard Rifle in 375 H&H both having been previously discontinued. Unlike some others, he did not make note of when it was sold however it would have been before 1978 because he was supposed to go on a Grizzly hunt around that year (pretty sure it was before I was born) and he convinced my mom that he "need a bigger rifle" than he had at the time and subsequently bought an Interarms 375 H&H, though he never did go on the hunt and the first thing that rifle killed was a whitetail in Saskatchewan around 2007! I feel pretty confident, verging on certainty, that the rifle was sold before we left North Vancouver in 1983.

He actually bought a 1957-serialed Pre64 M70 in 30-06 on the same shopping trip for $235. Again, no notes on what became of that rifle but there are a gighillion 30-06's out there so this one is of less interest than the 375.

So if you have it, could I entice you to post some pics and share some hunting stories or any other information about it? I'm curious what it's been up to in the intervening years and it's an interesting enough rifle that one of you may have it and have a few yarns to share.
