So ....... why exactly are the Chinese SKS more accurate than the Russian's ?

Not an expert ...... But from what I've heard is that the condition of the Russian guns vary wildly from barely fired or never fired to shot tremendous amounts of time and then refurbished. Some guns look never used and others are covered in bbq paint, have wear on their parts, and have no rifling in the barrels anymore. So, some Russian guns don't shoot as well as others. As for the Chinese guns, they were all packed for long term storage at the time of production (basically like new).

I have a factory 26 Chi-com made on Soviet tooling with the blade bayonet and it is more accurate than any Russian SKS I have fired to date. Why ? Don't know......Don't matter...NFS.....Harold

I had both an unissued Chinese Type 56 and an unissued Russian SKS. Both in mint condition. Like new. The Chinese SKS was slightly more accurate than the Russian. The Russian SKS shot 4" - 5" 10 shot groups, the Chinese one shot 3.5" - 4" 10 shot groups. Both at 100 meters.

a former russian military person (i spoke with) said that all (russian) sks have been fired, (along with other sources)
and most shot the crap out of...
the chinese 'sino-soviet' were the ones the russians helped the chinese tool up for...
have found this to be true (new chinese military shoots better than used russian)
although exceptions exist...

Great question. I found the comments interesting.
IMHO, comparing chinese to russian sks's for accuracy can only done with quality ammunition, i.e. non-surplus.
With surplus ammunition, the bullet weights, bullet diameters (even overall bullet roundness), and powder charge vary significantly, severely limiting the accuracy that can be achieved.
In my experience, the chinese military and refurbed russian izhevsk were pretty much tied for accuracy.
In regard to other comments above, I have always assumed that often the refurb russian's ones get new barrels if needed. I have yet to see a sks with a shot out barrel.

I highly doubt this person you spoke with knows exactly what happened to every single Russian SKS. Test firing is normal but the ones coming from Ukraine were in such good shape they were clearly unissued. You would have to own one to know exactly what were talking about as these SKS were something else.

If you're constantly getting 5" 10 shot groups with one rifle and you're getting 4" with another rifle using the same surplus ammo, clearly one is a better shooter.
