So ....... why exactly are the Chinese SKS more accurate than the Russian's ?

bigmouth...did you read the 'along with other sources' ...he confirmed what real research will uncover...
most (if not all were issued)
and no sks were made with laminate stocks (all are refurbished)

believe what you want...but someone started the myth that chinese are more accurate than russian sks'
(and the aren't referring to the commercial norinco's

I've noticed no difference between my refurb Russians and my brothers Chinese sks as far as accuracy goes. They are both surprisingly accurate given what they are. The Russians definitely look nicer though.

1958 "K series" rifles were in fact, issued with laminate stocks.

As far as the original question goes, it's a silly one. Accuracy is determined by the shooter, precision by the rifle. SKS precision depends on the tightness of the bore and the tightness of the bedding / stock fit. Even minor differences in stock fit can create contact points with the barrel. Obviously, each rifle will work better or worse with different ammo depending on its vibrational harmonics. None of the steel cased surplus ammunition is consistent enough for precise shooting of any sort if you're measuring in minutes of angle -- you should be measuring in minutes of "Capitalist American Pig", the SKS will shoot that just fine whether made in the Motherland or by our friends in the People's Republic.

Somehow only in Canada, Chinese SKS's more accurate if compared to Russian and Yugos are an absolute snipers. Just like prices in Canada -any correlation???? Just south of the border or anywhere else for that matter it's the other way around. Yogos the cheapest and considered by far the list accurate followed by the Chinese. There is forum down south that contains SKS in its name with a few threads on this topic. Also one might take a look at metallurgy industry by country in a given time period in short: Soviet is good, Chinese is bad:)

Something I have noticed is the feel of the action when it cycles varies between the Chinese and Russian.

The Chinese bolt feels slightly gritty when it cycles inside the receiver.
The Soviet ones are smoother, likely because the machining is nicer, with less imperfections. The type of metal each countrt used fir their bolt and action influences it too I imagine.

So speculation trumps real experience . I see. The Ukraine ones weren't laminate. You obviously have never seen one. These guns were un issued and if they were, they didn't let them shoot them or take them appart. Again, I doubt your friend or your other sources know what happened to every single SKS. It's speculation.

South of the border they only have commercial norincos a totally different class from the unissued military ones available in Canada. The import of these military skss only started a few years ago.
Also the quality of steel in Chinese guns is typically very good.

There is an embargo on Norincos in the U.S. so of course the Russian SKSs has better accuracy... because they are the only SKSs Americans could shoot. Sure a few trickled in prior to the embargo but those SKSs were more than likely surplus and not brand spanking new from the factory. Norc's tolerances are tigher now a days. their stamped receivers function just as well as the milled ones and the barrels are chromed lined so it stands up to corrosive better so in Canada, they are in general more accurate. Oh yah, as everyone else had mentioned, ground tiger penus embedded in the barrel!

????? OK where to begin...

1. Chinese SKS's are very much available in the States and in fact there is more Chinese SKS's than Soviet ones, neither one could be imported to the States now.
2. Most Chinese SKS (mil or Norc`s) are milled receivers. Stamped ones are at a premium now because of relatively low numbers and therefore collectability.
3. ALL Chinese SKS were chromed lined and all Russian rifles post 52 were chromed lined as well. In theory however non-chromed lined rifles should be more accurate, in theory...

Despite the entertaining wise guy responses the answers seem to be all over the place .... like the SKS itself !
