So, will I begin reloading?

While RCBS scales are highly regarded, in defense, I have to say that my Lyman Model 500 works equally well and is of the same quality.
It is also magnetically dampened and has agate bearings.

A Redding scale (or powder measure, or press, or powder trickler, or anything else) is going to be the best quality of course. The price, build quality, and materials of construction prove that out.

My main press is a Redding Boss and I use their competition powder measure as well. The measure is all cast iron and steel, and built like a tank.
The Boss is a Cadillac press.

On the other hand, I use an old 1973 RCBS JR3 and an old 1960s Lyman #55 cast iron powder measure for a secondary reloading station.
Both stations easily produce high quality and accurate ammunition.

Used to have a Lee Loader in 45-70 in the past and have moved up to what I call the 'one armed bandit' Lee hand press that takes ordinary 7/8" dies.
I bought it for $29.95 at the old SIR store in Winnipeg.
I use a small modern electronic scale to weigh powder and the Lee cutter and holder for trimming and a RCBS hand held primer to prime.
It all fits in a CTC tool box.
I load exclusively for hunting and can turn out several boxes (@20 rounds) of high quality 45-70 ammo in front of the tv while watching a hockey game.
All the data I need is on the manufacturers vendor websites on the internet. No need for manuals.
It doesn't cost a fortune to get started.
Go for it.

Thank you all for the many replies. I will pick up the Lee beginner rig at Cabellas.
To answer some of your questions.
Caliber wise there is 270, 308 and 3006. I could consider light loads for granpappy's 44-40 but the old girl is past the century mark, might be an idea to leave her in the rocker.
Quality wise, well the best I can get from myself. Past a certain range the rifles are much more capable than I am.
Its tough sometimes. If I consider the shotguns I have two safes full and can't seem to part with any of them. Many are passed down from passed family memberes. The 06 now seems to be saying HELLO when I pull the trigger so there could be a 243 on the horizon. (oh jez, that can of worms and side b, 7mm-08)
