So you want a SA M1A....because you think it'll be better than a Norc M14s (m305)

Bump cuz its worth it

Yeah I agree.

Just to add to the post, Echo Charlie came out to my shop the other day with his M14s (M305)......except for the barrel set screw being a royal pain to get out, rebarreling and headspacing took less than 45 minutes. HS came out at 1.635, with new chrome short barrel, usually in at 1.634........but still a good enough to shoot any ammo in it.

I know this question should be in the ''Gunsmithing'' section but beside ValleyGunsmith & the creators of the P&D Enterprise SOCOM project...

Is there anybody else who do these kinds of Mods on the M1A & M14S's?? Preferably in the Edmonton area :) ?

who makes this stock?

I wish I knew about ChiCom M14s when I purchased my POS SAI Scout back in '01!
:bangHead: 3 trips back to the factory for warranty repair and a 4th warranty repair by mail.

After my experience with Springfield I have purchased a few used ChiComs @ $400 and up.
SEI was able to make my Springfield reliable so I had them build me another on a Norinco receiver.
The Norico build is so much better than the SAI I've decided to replace the Springfield receiver with a Norinco.
Soon all of my M14 type rifle will be Norinco/Polytech

One of the main reasons I would want a SA M1A over any other clone of the M1A is for the simple reason I want an American made rifle.

I don't buy the Chinese made crap like 99% of the other Americans on my block.

I do my best to support American made products.

But not all of my Rifles are American. I have a few others that are Belgian made the FN FAL Paratrooper model 50.63, A Swiss rifle the SIG 510-4, A West German made HK-41, and a Israeli Galil 308 ARM.

And those are just the black rifles.

Just curious what is the legality of rifles like these in your country?

While I support your opening statement in principle, I think we need to acknowledge that the vast majority of our consumer good have a high percentage of PRC made components.

As for the rifles, the FN/FAL is prohib with grandfathering. I believe the Sig 510 is prohibited outright. The H&K 41 is derived from the G3(?) so it's also prohib with grandfathering. The Galil is lumped in as a varient of the AK, and prohibited with grandfathering.

Don't knock it till you try it. Turn over a few things in your house and see if they say "Made in China", you most likely have more then one.

When ever I do find things that say Made in China I toss them in the garbage.

No I'm serious This trend or buying cheaply made stuff from china is going to ruin our country that is if it hasn't already.

I hope you kept your walmart receipts. If you're a man of high principle, I assume you'll be returing the 65% of goods in your houshold that were made in China.

Of course, you wouldn't want to cause too much of a ruckus. The war on terror is being financed by China. That's right, China is becoming the world's single largest holder of US debt instruments. The US is literally borrowing almost 400 hundred billion dollars from China as we speak. China is keeping the US economy afloat and out of recession. Why does the US dollar keep falling against all major currencies? Because they are printing money to keep a debt-riddled economy moving. China is starting to diversify into gold due to the weakness in the US dollar, which only devalues the USD further. The National Debt has continued to increase an average of $1.57 billion per day since September 29, 2006! Just be glad the Chinese look at you as freindly and stable enough to buy debt instuments in a dollar that has fallen about 25% in over a year. They're actually losing about 20% on the deal by investing in your government paper, but hey, they need to keep your economy afloat so they can continue to be sellers into your market.

Next, imagine if the US dropped the "assault weapons ban". It is actually nothing more than a trade embargo to keep the domestic arms industry afloat. The domestic arms industry would collapse, due to price pressure. You'd see $200 Norincos built with even higher precision and lower cost due to the positive influences of an open market. Pretty hard to see how SA, LRB or FA could compete with that--unless they wanted to just become boutique assembly shops (or outsource manufacture to China).

Its funny all the complaints you hear about China as a closed economy. It is actually gun lobbyists in the US who support the import provisions of the assault weapons ban, as they are paid industry hacks. It's the NRA's dirty little secret. They fight to protect your rights to buy overpriced domestic firearms from companies who are so inefficient that they cannot be price-competitive on the world stage.

Well they did drop the AWB in 2004 it has a sunset clause. There still is the importation ban however maybe thats what you meant.

Ive been buying only things Made in USA or Canada for the past 7 years religiously.

China isn't the only one putting their Cabbage into gold I have been buying Gold with 1/4 of my monthly incoming phony green. as I don't care to get stuck with the worthless FIAT currency when the SHTF or when TEOTWAWKI Strikes. You are correct when you state that CHINA is dumping the American dollar and they are smart to do this in a way but then I'm sure they know if they wreck the American economy that there will be no one to buy their crap that walmart sells to all the Sheeple here.

Yes, notice how the gun lobby who "fights for your second amendment rights" has done nothing to enable you to buy the firearms of your choice? I am exactly talking about the import ban. The lobbyists fought the AWB with great enthusiasm but were mum on the import clause. I wonder who pays their bills...could it be the domestic industry?
