LMAO...I here this argument for cartridge choice ALL the time, so my question is: Has this really ever happened to anybody?

I mean, c'mon......who doesn't pack extra ammo/back-up gun/ammo when travelling a long distance to hunt? Ryan

I always bring a back-up gun on long trips. Have never forgotten ammo. Have forgotten binos. I find the hunting excursions around the local area early in the season are good to get back in the groove of things. All the little things I forget when I am only 45 mins from home is not a big deal. It's like a shake-out. So when I go on my long trip, I have already made all the mistakes I can blunder on to so that I am ready for anything! Now if only the damn animals would cooperate and walk into my sights! :D

Both my hunting rigs were in readily available .30 cals ctgs. Never had to make an emergency buy of factory ammo as previous to the away hunts both rifles were sighted in with fresh handloads. My kit was checked & rechecked before departure, including the ammo for each gun. Always had plenty on hand.

I always take a backup, and I always make sure I've got both guns, mags, ammo, and my boots. Everything else is trivial:D
