Socks

My son gifted me two pairs of kuiu socks last year. Very warm, cushioned and they keep my feet dry. I also wear high end boots, 1/2 size larger than my shoes so that I have some wiggle room. The socks are not cheap, but my feet have never been warmer or as comfortable as when wearing them while hunting. I also wear them around the house as they are more comfortable than slippers.

I use alpaca socks overtop of the merino darntoughs and my feet were noticeably warmer. This is for stand/blind hunting, not stalking or lots of walking.
I've got an alpaca wool sweater. Old neighbor brought it home from Peru for me. I'm a big fan, only problem is wind cuts right through it but that's expected given the loose weave of it.
prefer cotton in the crocks but when you gotta get out of the truck and slip on the mucks it will cook your heels if you have to go to far to get the critter, always keep your dual sock set up in your mucks (slippery liner and medium to light weight merino or synthetic alternative) just in case

Upgrade over sheep wool?
Hard to say for me, other than my Costco socks I don't wear much wool, I'm too poor to buy wool generally speaking.
I been buying jb fields merino wool socks great socks for a great price, half the price of smart wool.. they offer various thickness’ different foot cushion thickness’,in various merino % I’m a big fan of the hiker GX and their -30 merino for winter
I have recently started using Darn Tough socks. I get super cold feet in the fall stand hunting so I have been in search of something to keep my feet warm. Even the most expensive and good quality socks I suffer. So far Darn Tough is great at this time of year but not sure for the cold. They do supposedly have an amazing warranty though!
Yup same here any wool or latex elastic in socks cause itch. l wear old Mcgregor socks with heals worn out as a base so l can wear warm socks to prevent itch.
