So my bolt release stop holting the bolt on my socom after 200-300 rounds. I narrowed it down to the bolt as I swapped bolt with my norc shorty and that bolt will hold open.

And by that I mean the bolt will hold back with a empty mag but as soon as I remove the empty mag the bolt slams shut. I compare both of my bolt and I can't find any difference between the two. I guess the faulty one is slicker in the critical area but the shape and angle seem identical.

I can run the gun as is but it's annoying. I am tempted to take a small file to it but I am afraid of douing more damage then good.

My bolt catch on my DA socom 18 is crummy. A small tap to the rifle will release the bolt. Doesn't cause too much trouble though - just have to be careful with mine.
Your rifle might be to a worse degree. I've seen this on norinco ARs as well. My norinco AR's catch is decent, but the problem is still there. I saw another shooter's norc AR with the problem to a degree of ridiculous= bolt not locking back

Get an aftermarket bolt catch like a magwedge. I'd suggest a usgi unit but the roll pin used is smaller that the chinese pin and receiver holes.

Easy fix. The bolt hold open is not rotating far enough. Have a look at it, there's more room for it to rotate above it but it hits the receiver at the bottom around the spring. Remove it, grind it down until it will rotate all the way up and the problem is gone.

I Had the same problem New out-of-the-box
Looked like the bolt stop had been hit with a hammer.
Possibly bent. Returned it for warranty.
They sent me a new socom
Great service from Canada ammo.
As Thomas said replaced the bolt stop. Or try supernovas suggestion. It's a pain when the bolt-won't stay open.
