Thanks for the info... If you put a chinese and a SA side by side, you can see the difference, metal on the SA is thicker, plunger is smoother and finition is better... Withing the same Cie they must have special production runs, many Cie do that... JP.

Now that i know, that i have a 2.5 MOA rifle with quality factory fodder, i will take out the CASM mount, and order a Scout handguard with the rail and fit the brand new Hendsolt RSA, i got for warranty replacement...
The weight will go down and the Socom will be fine as a Scout Socom for brush wood deer hunting, after 220 rounds, i know it is mecanicly perfect so it is a no brainer, my inlaw will get a very lethal deer rifle... JP.

caramel, why not remove your scope/rings/mount/cheek rest from your $1,000 budget and give yourself room to upgrade the rifle. That should give you a $400 +/- budget to get your hands dirty with.
Otherwise, this is a thread about which ammo groups best out of a nearly bone stock M305, which on it's own is a worthy undertaking but I think you have higher aspirations here.

If you don't already have a copy, pickup Duff & Millers M14 Owner's Guide and Match Conditioning Instructions and give it a read, I guarantee you will enjoy it front to back.

^+1, I know you have good taste in glass but that alone won't make a Norc more accurate. I've been getting better accuracy out of mine with upgrades, handloads, and irons.

I dont intend to invest more time on it, it is a great rifle for what it is...
Totay i intend to break in my new SA NM M1A and see what this one will do for me...
For the Socom, i may come back on it later on,... It is a neat package... Dont get me wrong, i just wanted to make sure it could shoot and that the mecanik was fine...
Going with this big boy today....This one should be very close to MOA... Off the bat... JP.

Well, there you have it...easiest way to bring a Norc/Poly/DA to 1MOA on a budget...buy a Match M1A! :)
Happy shooting mon'amie!

Hey JP,
How hard was it to remove the stripper clip guide from the National Match?
I had to beat mine off of the Norinco with quite a lot of force.
I want to avoid doing that on my National Match.

With the CASM mount you dont have to, it's just sit on it flush, very happy i got rid of those jamming ARMS 18 mounts... JP.

Same here, I had to get pretty rough removing a norc stripper clip guide.
Important thing to remember is they only go out one way, to the left.
