yes that is what i gather. it also has a straight blowback design with no lockup which is unusual for anything more than a .380. any inherent accuracy advantages of a fixed barrel were negated by the trigger.

Yup. 8.5 Mars was very powerful.. back in the 1900s.

If I remember correctly, he tried to sell it to the Royal Navy as a pistol-carbine combo but they rejected it as being too powerful. With a buttstock it would have made a very handy unit for the time.
