Sold all restricteds and I am out of the game.

I made a similar choice in 96..sold all my guns, thinking I could get back into it later. There were guns I sold that at tge time I didnt know I would never be allowed to own again. I should have kept one,as most are now prohibited. That is a mistake I will never make again.

I sold everything I had. Ammo, accessories, and my pistol collection. My circumstances and inordinate concern with more and better guns convicted me to do it. Tired of always coveting nicer pistols when they are nothing more than paper weights in Canada. it's a weight off my shoulders to be out of the restricted game. No more needless red tape. I'm off the reatricted grid. It feels good. It's been tough but I'm adapting to contentment with a shot gun and a rifle. My wife is happy about it too.

I get your point of view. I opted against getting my RPAL when I did the course ages ago. I couldn't imagine a time in the foreseeable future when going to a range would be more fun than shooting/hunting in the bush..on friend's farms..etc. I'm also the kind of person who feels the weight of unnecessary responsibility like it's a tangible thing. I hate filling out forms, being told where I can/can not shoot etc. Zaps the fun out of it for me. Like the OP just said though...should pistols (even .22s) EVER become non-restricted, I'll go out the same day and buy one. I like them that much. Until then, I don't have to pay for the privilege to shoot. Just ammo and gas!

The day i will stop shooting my restricted is the day that i die or the day they all come prohibited... One thing is sure is that i wont stop on a voluntary base... JP.

You can't make again, phew thank god for soldiers of righteousness like alan rock, where would we be without such a brave soul...

I have no problem getting out of restricted guns as long as you are replacing each one with a non-restricted in its place. I sympathize with everyone who can't just drive down to a local gun range to use a gun that we should be allowed to shoot out in the bush. Couldn't be a safer place than the wilderness for a handgun.

this is what they wanted, make it difficult to own and shoot, especially in Ontario, ON CFO is the most anti-gun CFO i have met to date.
looks like they have completely bend some of you over and left a wet load in your rear.
let me ask you this, since you love your tavor so much, what you gonna do when they restrict that? shoot sks? what if they restrict all semis? shoot bolt action?
this is what they want and how they are going to win, death by thousand cuts. you know why ar weren't banned back then with all others? because the shear numbers.
I own 1 NR, a .22 rascal for my kids, all the rest are big red Rs. at least I'm one of many restricted owner/voter they should worry about pissing off.

Interesting social experiment posting this here, however; not overly surprising.
From lefty ad hominem attacks to support, and a couple interesting perspectives - most notably a few posts up from Galt.

My hobby is shooting and reloading, hunting to a lesser extent. Hobbies are for enjoyment, not making a political statement.
When my hobby becomes unenjoyable, the logical thing to do is get out of it. All the BS of restricteds has caused me to lose interest it them.
My main interest is still handgun shooting, but I no longer search for the "new and improved" pistols, and won't likely buy any new ones.
Now my new interest is long range rifle shooting, and it's nice not to have the extra paper work and being restricted to range shooting.
But I'm getting old, and maybe a tad fuddy.

I genuinely see both sides of this. I love going out in the bush and playing with whatever NR tickles my fancy that day. I also love going to the range and letting my pistols get some fresh air. I really like taking newbies to the range as well to introduce them to this pastime. I have to say it is the grins and giggles I see when letting people shoot a restricted for the first time. That in itself keeps me going to the range on a regular basis.

To each their own at the end of the day. The OP is out shooting and enjoying himself.

Restricteds are fun, but nothing beats taking the gun to the bush on the weekend. I'm on the fence of getting out of restricted too

Im down to 3 restricteds, And im also debating of selling them...

While I understand your points of views. It does prove why CFOs keep coming back with more and more red tape. They know it will force some of us to give them up. At some point, they will simply say that there aren't enough RPAL holders to fight to keep them. Guess what, they'll be back for the non restricted ones next. When that red tape gets to be too much for you, then what.

I take CFO red tape, wrap it up and turn it into a #### ring. Just like a #### ring my resolve is harder, and I will outlast them.

Each to his own. I don't have a problem with not being able to own the most expensive restricted in the world. I am happy with my old hand-me-down stuff. The very last thing I will do is give up my restricted and prohibited firearms - that will be when I croak.

Somewhere, a liebral dip$hit is smugly snickering at this man for giving in to the endless pile of bureaucratic bull$hit. I hope all liebrals and anti-gunners start holding their breath now, waiting for me to knuckle under. :p

Should have kept one restricted. I missed getting prohibited status because I didn't keep at least one "short barrel" handgun. F-ing Liberals. That's all I have to say on the matter.
