There is an Estate sale here and from what I have found out the Tobin SXS is a 12 guage Regal Grade with 30" barrels single selecter trigger the shotgun in is in good condition probably 85% with a few minor pits on one barrel by the muzzle and without a cleaning,(they are clean) but a real good cleaning and a real good look I think there are a few pits in the barrel .
The length of pull is 13-1/2" before the butt pad

.I have looked on line and there is plenty of info in regards to the company and the shotguns but not any for sale.
Any help appreciated

Graham, I generally ignore these type of threads, but I have a personal interest in Tobin guns. I own three and have seen quite a few others. Before I can weigh in on value, I would need to confirm the grade and condition. Can you get a digital photo of the gun? It would be nice to see the engraving detail if possible. Usually people ask for photos of barrel flats and proof stamps etc, but Tobins never had many.
If you can get pictures, I can pm you my email address and I will post them for people to see. We may then be able to give it a fair estimate.
I have not seen a regal grade...do you know what kind of barrels are one it. (Krupp, DeMoya, etc).

Whew, you gotta wonder how many times this needs to be said, especially on an unusual item like this. No credible estimate can be made without pics and information. For starters, barrel length, LOP, and pics of the gun so condition can be assessed and original quality considered.

There is a very small market for a higher end Tobin. If it is in fact a rare, high grade Tobin (because all high grade Tobins are rare) then the value will vary wildly depending on how original is the condition and who is bidding on it on any given day.

BTW, "rare" does not equal "valuable".

Very well said CVB. I would add “engraved” does not always equate to “regal grade”.

I must admit that I am excited to see if one did surface though. The majority I see are $250 Leader grades that spent most of their lives in the barn.

If you send me an email address I would send you some pictures. If I could have posted pictures I would have.
Photo bucket crapped out so pics can't be posted right now.
I didn't say rare you did.
I am just trying to help out an old lady who was going to turn it into the police and being a U.S military rifle collector I don't know much about shotguns

I don’t pretend to know people’s motivation, nor their skill at assessing and describing condition. We get a lot of people asking the same question. What’s this gun worth?

I know I said rare and that you didn’t. I didn’t want to build up false hopes. The fact is it’s likely a rare gun. But that means little with regards to value. That’s all.

Been on that web site and that's where I got the model.
QUAILS OR ? EACH SIDE DOG ON THE BOTTOM OF THE LOCK SAME ENGRAVING BIT THIS ONE HAS DOUBLE TRIGGERS (A 20$ SAVING ON ORDER)

Double triggers are the standard for SxS. Back when Tobin was in production, single trigger technology hadn’t been perfected. Serious hunters would usually choose the double triggers. The very highest grades of Fox, Parker etc typically have double triggers.

Well... below are the pictures. Its indeed a Regal Grade IMO and VERY rare.

I would be just guessing here, but due to the fact it is a Woodstock gun and its a piece of Canadian history, I would start high at $5000.

If you get more pictures, try to get a better one of the stocks and checkering, the bottom of the receiver, and the triggers. It looks like a single selective maybe?

WOW! Good reason to try not to be cynical about these kinds of threads. Every once in a while, the real deal shows up. As Londonshooter said, good on you Griaguns for trying to help the old lady out.

Griaguns, how do prospective buyers follow up? Is it going to auction? Should they contact the owner? I already has one who have asked. American collector.
